The Communications Specialist will collaborate with the Department Manager and Chair to manage internal and external communications for the Department of Physics. This position is responsible for developing and implementing communications and outreach for the department that will effectively elevate the profile of the department and its programs across campus, among our constituents, and in the broader educational community. This position is responsible for website development and maintenance, social media management, video production, and marketing materials (print and digital). The position will also lead alumni outreach and engagement efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâ™s degree with 3-5 years related experience in planning for marketing, communications, development and outreach, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students.Â
- Demonstrated strong written communication and presentation skills with special attention to detail, accuracy and audience.
- Knowledge and command of evolving social media platforms.
- Experience and proficiency working with web content management systems.
- Ability to sustain a high level of productivity and work independently while being part of a collaborative team.
- Sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility in adjusting to changing demands.
- Proficiency with Google Drive, MS Office, Google. Experience with Canva, Illustrator, and Mailchimp.
- Graphic Design skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign and Premier.
- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.Â
