General Summary The Security Analyst will focus on the security of DePaul's information resources to provide a safe computing environment in support of DePaul University's mission of education, community service, and research. The Security Analyst will work in the Information Security team and is mentored by the Senior Security professional positions of the group. The Security Analyst will be responsible for learning and supporting work in the information security areas covered by the team – most especially the areas of network security, platform security, and incident monitoring/response. The Security Analyst will serve as a backup and second subject matter expert in the operation and administration of Information Security processes. The incumbent will learn DePaul's security processes in the areas of responding to digital millennium copyright act (DMCA) notices, litigation hold procedures, malware detection, and response, security software support and troubleshooting, and others as assigned. The Security Analyst will assist in the monitoring of DePaul resources for active threats. Responsibilities & Duties
Under general direction, monitors the DePaul environment for active security threats.
Investigates anomalous activity, follows up with appropriate parties, and reports on findings.
Performs Information Security processes relating to DMCA, antimalware administration, litigation hold, security awareness, and other team responsibilities.
Performs general administration/maintenance of the security technologies employed at DePaul, including setting up, troubleshooting, and assisting customers.
Assists in the development, deployment, and maintenance of security technology under the general direction of senior team members.
Researches current security technologies and evaluates the potential for usage at DePaul.
Become familiar with all aspects of the security team's responsibilities and functions as a backup for other team members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
1 to 2 years of experience in Information Security.
Other Skills & Abilities Required
Strong understanding of system security concepts and practices; good understanding of networking technology.
Ability to deeply understand security technologies for protection and monitoring.
Strong organizational and project planning skills.
Solid oral and written communication skills.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
Must have strong teamwork capabilities.
