University Advancement (UA) supports the entire CMU community in building relationships with key constituencies and securing the financial resources the university needs to continue its ascent. As the division grows, we are seeking an associate director, Business Engagement, Campus Liaison. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment. Reporting to the director, Business Engagement, Campus Liaison, you will secure corporate support for engagement opportunities across Carnegie Mellon University in the form of corporate philanthropic giving, corporate sponsored research, capstones, executive education and other corporate partnerships. You will focus primarily on building mutually beneficial partnerships with corporations, both newly discovered partners, as well as expanding current relationships, to support relevant focus areas as they relate to the overall goals of campus partners and the University's strategic priorities.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Managing the appropriate response and qualification of inbound opportunities developed through the Center for Business Engagement website and assist to mature these opportunities.
Working with the Associate VP, Business Engagement and Director to participate in prospecting efforts, as needed.
Working closely with the Director to anticipate and identify new inroads to industry.
Supporting corporate proposals for solicitation of established prospects and assisting in the preparation of gift and sponsored research proposals to others.
Assisting faculty and campus partners/stakeholders in industry partnerships in research and development, technology transfer, recruitment, executive education, student projects, internships and advisory activities through prospect management.
Organizing university campus events for corporate representatives.
Identifying and maintaining participation in sponsorships, conferences, and tradeshows.
Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events.
Identifying key alumni within corporations and reviewing corporate profiles that suggest potential relationships because of common interests.
Documenting action items and assignments for follow-up in T-360 (CMU's Salesforce CRM).
Convening internal meetings with campus partners to ensure information-sharing, transparency and alignment on potential partner engagements.
Staying up-to-date on current university faculty, research, and campus partner/stakeholder initiatives and needs.
Generating and managing marketing materials in collaboration with the marketing and communications team.
Helping to define KPIs to measure effectiveness of marketing and advertising efforts.
Other duties assigned.

Interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the university's funding priorities through developing excellent working relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, trustees and other volunteers, and the university and college research and advancement teams.
Personal belief in mission, goals and objectives of private higher education.
You should be able to travel domestically and occasionally internationally and be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
A bachelor's degree is required; master's degree preferred
Five to seven years of experience in sales or market development, account management, relationship management, strategic planning and fundraising preferably within higher education.
High-level of proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation applications
Experience in marketing and/or digital marketing, preferred; experience in computer science or engineering technologies, preferred
Familiarity with CMU processes, preferred.
Proficiency with Salesforce CRM, preferred.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and successfully complete a driver's license verification on an annual basis. Must complete the National Safety Council Defensive Driver Training once every three years
