Our location in Lake Forest, IL (Abbott Park), currently has an opportunity for a Sr. IT Business Relationship Manager. In this role, the person hired will be
responsible for the IT portfolio of a complex multi-business unit division. They will also make sure the portfolio enhances organizational strategy through successful, consistent and predictable delivery of programs, projects and applications. This manager will be supported by a small staff which partners with the business, has excellent understanding of the business processes (Quality, Regulatory, and R&D), is aware of the evolution of technologies, and takes into account regulations relevant to the business area. The person hired will also be responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures; ensuring necessary alignment. In addition, they will manage IT projects across business units, and division wide when and where applicable.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Proactively identify areas of opportunity to apply IT for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.
Provide insight to the business unit(s) on how to best develop and leverage IT capabilities for the organization(s).
Primary point of contact for overall IT needs for a division and business units.
Responsible for prioritizing demand across Quality, Regulatory, and R&D.
Understands and contributes to the business unit strategy and translates business strategy in an aligned IT strategy and portfolio of programs, projects and applications.
Promotes a Global Perspective.
Constant awareness of evolving regulatory requirements in the Quality, Regulatory, and R&D business areas, and influence the IT stakeholders and vendors in addressing these evolutions in the most efficient way.
Ability to assess the overall needs of multiple business units and to negotiate an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the BU.
Recommends solutions assuring fit with BU direction, strategy and priorities.
Advises business unit(s) about similar strategies employed by other pharmaceutical companies.
Influences and partners with business leaders (Director, Sr. Director level) to manage and align the unit IT portfolio.
Close collaborates with other parts of BU IT, adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels.
Builds and maintains strategic relationships with key software vendors as well as counterparts at other Health Care companies.
Negotiates for and secures resources to meet the long range needs of the area.
Oversee and control area IT budgets, project capital/RCE expenditures. Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance.
Management of core IT Quality processes including CAPA, Audit, SOX, Training, Vendor Risk Management and associated procedures.
Partners with divisional QA & RA business leaders to drive Quality culture and compliance across the IT organization.
Responsible for overall morale of team and promotes cohesive attitude.
Establishes staffing/resources plans determining appropriate mix of sourcing opportunities.
Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
Operates with goals set by the sector BRM, but at the same time is highly self-motivated and directed.
Has direct impact on capital budget, expenses and major project completion.
Makes strategic decisions that impact the business unit and/or division.
Manage overall effectiveness of IT Quality controls through management of resources and key metrics.
Directly manages up to 4 leads, and up to 20 indirect/project staff.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor degree in computer science, business administration or another discipline relevant for the healthcare industry or equivalent experience.
10+ years of IT or business experience in large or midsized multinational Health Care organization.
Broad IT or business expertise in various disciplines like system development, and including infrastructure.
Additional experience in setting IT or business strategy and business IT alignment. Strong project management skills.
Direct experience leading governance boards of large multi-disciplinary projects.
Experience leading teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams.
Strong interdisciplinary, and excellent intercultural influence, and networking skills.
Good negotiation skills. Strong Experience with GxP validation, Quality, Regulatory, and R&D processes.
Experience implementing Quality processes across an IT organization.
Experience with vendor management. Evidence of participation in strategic industry forums.
Qualification in project management.
Business unit relevant business process knowledge, as related to IT.
Deep knowledge of all technologies used or to be used by the Functional area; Quality, Regulatory, and R&D.
Strong influence and negotiating skills.
