Position Details:Summary of Duties:Reporting to the Director, Alumni Engagement, the
Assistant Director will identify opportunities to expand the breadth and depth of alumni engagement, leading to increases in volunteer efforts, program participation and greater philanthropic activity. This person will have significant project management responsibilities, as they will be developing and managing programs aimed at alumni and prospective donor engagement, contribute to and oversee marketing and communication efforts in support of these programs, and track and report on data related to program success. They will work extensively with alumni and Advancement leadership, volunteers, current students and parents, and other internal and external stakeholders, building connections and encouraging ever deepening engagement with the University.
Required Qualifications:- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience developing and implementing programs and events.
- Expert written and oral communication skills, with the ability to listen and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to engage and influence people, using tact and diplomacy and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Experience developing and formalizing processes and procedures.
- Highly developed project management skills.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple and varied tasks independently while also working collaboratively.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some weekends.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other online tools.
- Evidence of creative, conceptual thinking and the ability to take the concept and make it a reality.
- Possession of a valid driver's license by time of hire.
- Knowledge of marketing methods and social media best practices, including digital marketing/advertising on multiple platforms.
- Mastery of fiscal planning and budget management.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience as a volunteer or volunteer leader
- Experience working in higher education or with in University Advancement, with an Alumni Association or Alumni Relations department
- Experience working for a marketing or events firm
