Director of Clinical Practice- School of Education

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Education, the Director of Clinical Practice is a member of the Dean???s Administrative team and is responsible for coordinating and providing leadership for all clinical experiences across the academic unit.As Director, the successful candidate willwork extensively with community stakeholders, school district administrators and building principals to establish and maintain positive school-community-university partnerships and provide high-quality placements for education candidates.
Duties of the Director include but are not limited to:
Oversees the leadership and management of the Office of Field Placement
Serve as the primary liaison for the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE), Long Island and Westchester School Districts on the development of Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) and cultivation of placement partnerships
Ensure that all Standards of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for initial and advanced programs are implemented and adhered to
Manage and organize all clinical components of the program???s curriculum
Ensures program and placement compliance with all New York State Education Department (NYSED) rules and regulations
Collaborate with faculty to design, implement and evaluate innovative field experiences as part of the QC???ed Dean???s initiative
Oversees the administrative and tactical efforts of the P-12 Advisory Board
Facilitates the unit???s Clinical Taskforce, geared at enhancing our student clinical experience and implement recommendations as needed
Streamline and coordinate placement efforts alongside clinical faculty and Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) staff members
Partner with the School of Education???s Office of Assessment and Accreditation team to ensure proper management and organization of all clinical assessment data

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.
A Master???s degree in education or a related field of study (Doctoral degree preferred)
Deep understanding of clinical issues in teacher preparation and allied fields
A commitment to community-engaged clinical experiences
Experience supervising staff to meet time sensitive deadlines and goals
A strong understanding of the needs and challenges of diverse student groups
Considerable knowledge of initial and advanced teacher education licensure preparation programs, specifically in relation to coordination of clinical field placements
Demonstrated ability to maintain professional relationships, and the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, K-12 faculty and administrators, university faculty, and other internal/external constituents
Experience working with children and/or youth, preferably in a K-12 classroom, social service or non-profit organization
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, within an institution of higher education and with faculty and other administrators
Organization, project management, communication and facilitation skills
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student information
Strong technology skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word), and the aptitude to learn new systems (including social media, website development, and other teaching/learning systems)
Excellent written and public speaking skills

Designs, implements and monitors a comprehensive academic program development plan
Administers all curricular, administrative, and financial aspects of the program
Oversees program evaluation efforts and creates strategic plan to further develop program offerings
Manages annual budget; develops proposals and other initiatives for expanded program support
Cultivates and maintains strategic partnerships; serves as primary liaison to faculty and administrators to plan and execute programming activities
May participate in faculty recruitment efforts
Manages professional and clerical staff
