GENERAL PURPOSE
The Application Analyst develops technical specifications, designs, and installs enterprise-level systems, integrates systems both on-premises and cloud, provides advanced (Tier 3) troubleshooting, and serves as the technical expert for the systems that they oversee. They work across teams and departments. They participate in the development of roadmaps and lifecycle plans. They work with project managers and end-users to evaluate alternatives and identify the best option to meet a set of functional requirements. They also serve as a technical mentor and coach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.
• Translate functional specifications into technical designs.
• Work with system engineers and vendors to implement the technical designs to produce working systems.
• Work with key stakeholders to identify and evaluate options. Advice on the best technical option to meet a set of functional requirements.
• Provide advanced (Tier 3) technical support for all assigned systems as well as be able to assist others with unfamiliar systems when requested.
• Develop and maintain system roadmaps that outline planned upgrades and maintenance events.
• Create and maintain documentation that enables others to provide effective support when the Application Analyst is unavailable.
• Review, validate, and create test scripts; establish test plans; and perform tests to ensure successful deployment of application changes and upgrades.
• Provide cross-training for other analysts to ensure appropriate Tier 3 coverage for assigned applications.
• Serve as a mentor and role model for junior applications analysts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, consistent with the Firm's attendance expectations.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
• Comprehensive understanding of networking in a Microsoft Windows environment, including client/server and web technologies. Knowledge level must be appropriate for both Tier 3 troubleshooting and administration of applications.
• Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.
• Excellent software troubleshooting skills and experience.
• Working knowledge of PKI infrastructure and how to request and install web certificates.
• Proven experience working with SQL servers. Ability to navigate the SQL server environment. Ability to query data using SQL query language.
• Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
• Ability to read, understand, apply, and generate technical documentation.
• Ability to produce a summary of the relevant factors that need to be considered when assessing the viability of new applications or a change to an existing application within the Perkins Coie environment.
• Self-starter, strong time management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED
• Working knowledge of scripting using PowerShell, Power Automate, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience working with Intapp, Elite, and Litera software platforms.
• Experience with configuring (BIG-IP F5) load balancers.
• Experience with configuring and troubleshooting SAML and token-based authentication.
• Ability to deploy, monitor, and administer applications to the cloud in IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS models.
• Experience with the Azure cloud and managing applications that reside in that infrastructure.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information system, or equivalent experience. Requires a minimum of 7+ years of related technical experience. Microsoft certified associate or equivalent experience. Primary responsibility for one or more enterprise applications.
Colorado compensation range: $86,480 to $135,360 annually, depending on qualification and experience. This range is specific to Colorado and may not be applicable to other locations. Perkins Coie may provide a discretionary bonus annually and information regarding benefits can be found here:
