The Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) is an integral part of the invasive team and is responsible for the monitoring the safe use of all radiological equipment.
The incumbent must have experience and a strong knowledge base with the operation of hemodynamic monitoring equipment used for cardiovascular procedures in both the Cardiac Catheterization and Hybrid OR settings. Duties include, but are not limited to, invasive hemodynamic monitoring and recording, pre/post procedure preparation, patient transport, digital imaging processing, assistance with inventory control, supply management/usage, and maintenance of a safe work environment. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required or obtained within 3 months of hire
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification is required or obtained within 12 months of hire.
American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
A graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic/EMT).
1 year Invasive Tech experience.
Knowledge and ability to operate radiology (RT only) and auxiliary equipment for assigned modality to provide quality images.
Knowledge of processor maintenance and imaging techniques. Must be able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances.
Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology. Skills to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
Judgment skills to be able to make independent clinical decisions within scope of practice.
Set priorities, organize work independently for self and others. Knowledge and recognition of pressure waveforms and ECG analysis.
Knowledge of laboratory supplies and their location.Teach safety practices and equipment operational practices.
Participate in establishing policies and procedures; participate in on-going CQI program.
Provide orientation and instruction to new cath lab staff; provide teaching to fellows, nursing students and visitors. Willing and able to work in a cooperative fashion with other staff members.
Knowledge and skills to comply with AORN standards.
Ability to work over-time as required.
Ability to meet 30-minute emergency call-back/on-call requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
RT License preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years recent experience as CVT preferred.
