The Project Manager will initiate, plan, organize and execute multiple software and developmental projects. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the projectâ™s objectives with management direction, and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Perform special projects and participates as a technical advisor for a variety of user access projects that will be dictated by current operations and technological developments.
Project Manager will recommend feasible improvements, oversee implementation of software projects, and maintain oversight of day-to-day technology operations, supporting technology practices with UPD operational infrastructure including working on both new and existing technology to ensure compatibility with systems. Work together with key partners and vendors to develop strategic capabilities that can help change or enhance the technology features. Keeps informed of new technologies or application methodologies through publications, membership in professional organizations and contact with other police organizations and institutions. Works closely with all University departments to ensure technology and project efforts align with the University Police mission and goals.
This position is responsible for working odd hours and on-call duty.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all technology project operations and evaluate them according to established goals.
Coordinate selection, installation, operation, support, and maintenance of information technology infrastructure (i.e. operating systems, SQL Database, remote job sites, networks, telecommunications, hardware, software, and peripherals.)
Work closely with contracted third-parties and liaison with University Information Technology on UPD public safety systems.
Analyze the departmentâ™s technology needs.
Develop efficient cost-effective purchasing of IT equipment and software. Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems.
Develop and control budget and report on expenditures.
Protect the Department and its operations against IT risks, including unauthorized access to information, data integrity problems, loss of processing capability, and poor service levels.
Direct and support implementation of software and hardware upgrades.
Identify and recommend new technology strategies.
Maintain awareness and report on public safety technology trends and requirements, such as emerging standards for new security technologies and opportunities.
Analyze public safety technologies to ensure system and data protection.
Manage cybersecurity and data privacy incident response processes and activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provides support for email, and telephone troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex issues.
Takes ownership of assigned issues and continues to monitor through to resolution.
Research and evaluate alternative technical solutions, developing recommendations and cost-effective system solution for business needs.
Troubleshoot technology incidents for critical and non-critical systems.
Build and maintain a comprehensive and continuously up-to-date inventory of all supported applications, servers, interfaces and IT services being used to support UPD operations.
Forecasts storage requirements and facilitates archiving and electronic discovery.
Conducts performance tuning and resource optimization.
Performs routine to more complex maintenance tasks such as server reboots and service restarts.
Defines an end-to-end lifecycle management process for services including, cost, maintenance, upgrades, support processes, and system sunset.
Investigate and perform root cause analysis on problems identified with services; recommending a short and long-term remediation activities.
Stay up-to-date knowledge of physical security best practices

Requirements for Position:
Be fingerprinted and subject to a search of local, state and U.S. national records and fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record.
Never been convicted of any family violence offenses.
Not prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle.
Not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Has not had a dishonorable or bad conduct discharge from the military.
U.S. Citizen.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Nine years of related experience including supervisory experience.
