We are seeking a dedicated and visionary assistant/associate professor to join the program as a full-time faculty member. A qualified candidate will be student-focused and eager to join a program that is developing one-of-a-kind opportunities in experiential and translational education for future justice professionals. The most qualified candidates will have strong experiential and educational experience in all aspects of the criminal justice system, with a hiring preference for faculty with prior exceptional service within the field, such as law enforcement, investigations or law. The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and/or laboratory instruction in Administration of Justice courses; this faculty member will teach courses across the discipline, but an exceptional candidate will have some experience in Cybercrime, Digital Forensics, and/or Criminal Law.
- Faculty interested and able to participate in curriculum development and potentially create new high-demand courses. - Faculty interested in advising student clubs or groups and assist with the ADJ Program internship program. - Faculty interested in curriculum assessment and program review efforts. - Faculty interested in assisting in building a large scale program of effective and beneficial relationships with multiple employers and community partners to benefit the program and its students. Education:EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree and two years of full- time, or the equivalent part-time professional experience OR any associate degree and six years of full-time, or the equivalent part-time professional experience OR the equivalent.
A Master's degree (in a discipline related to Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, Law, Digital Forensics, or a closely related area) is preferred.
(All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions.) Experience:EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3-5 years of professional full-time experience in the criminal justice system is required; faculty with experience in law enforcement, law, cybercrime, or digital forensics are strongly encouraged to apply. Demonstrated successful teaching/mentoring/training experience is also required. Experience teaching college-level courses is highly desirable, but exceptional candidates with experience in field training, training, or mentoring are encouraged to apply.
Exceptional candidates who are practitioners will have professional experience in training, mentoring, or other educational settings considered in lieu of traditional classroom teaching experience.
An ideal candidate will have experience working within diverse populations, a strong commitment to promoting evidence-based and Constitutional justice within the criminal justice system; this can be evidenced through professional and/or academic contributions addressing diverse perspectives, experience supporting the professional development of underrepresented groups, or direct work in creating and sustaining exceptional learning environments. Candidates should be able to describe and demonstrate their approach to educating and mentoring individuals within the field and/or classroom, with the ability to demonstrate and detail their ability to guide and mentor students from groups that may have been underrepresented or marginalized within educational environments and strategies to assist these students to promote accessibility within the classroom and field. Duties and Responsibilities:DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. The instructional assignment will include lecture and laboratory classes in the discipline. 2. All faculty will participate in outcomes assessment work. 3. Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, office hours, committee work, curriculum and program development, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, student activities, and other duties per the bargaining unit agreement. 4. Institutional service activities are expected of all faculty members. 5. Participation in discipline/department decision making processes and work regarding curriculum, program development, Improvement of Instruction, and other professional matters are also expected of all department faculty. 6. Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position. 7. Fulfill the duties of a full-time instructor, including, but not limited to, holding weekly office hours and completing 24 hours of 'flex credit' through various available activities and seminars.
