The Social Media Specialist is primarily responsible for working with the Manager of Digital Strategy and Social Media Community Manager to develop and implement strategic social media content for East Carolina University specifically concentrating on admissions, student recruitment and student success related content.
This position is a key part of a team that defines, evolves and protects ECU's online presence and brand, working to increase visibility with target audiences and leveraging digital and social media to enhance student recruitment and student success.
The social media specialist will:
-Manage the social media accounts for ECU admissions and additional accounts as appropriate. This includes creating and scheduling content. -Create/direct the creation of content including, but not limited to, video, photography and graphics that engage prospective students from the time they are interested in learning more to the time they move-in. -Use stories, photographs, videos, graphics and other tools to advance the university's goals in a creative, engaging manner — highlighting life as a student and what it means to be a part of Pirate Nation. -Collaborate with the university's undergraduate and graduate admission offices, the university communication's social media team, and other university partners. -Utilize the social media management platform, Falcon.io, to optimize content and support ECU's social and digital strategy, growing core account following and regularly engaging with audiences. -Directly support the efforts of the undergraduate and graduate admissions offices, ECU News Services, and University Marketing by providing social media strategy through advising and written plans, as well as reports for leadership. -Monitor and respond to mentions and direct messages from prospective and admitted students through real-time alerts on assigned social media accounts. -Monitor social media trends to identify and pursue opportunities to explore emerging social media platforms and technology. -Define and nurture university voice and personality for each platform to most effectively connect with followers. -Serve on campus committees as a social media advisor. -Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Some weekend and evening work is required.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
