Associate Director, Donor Engagement
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Advancement and Communications, the primary responsibility of the Associate Director, Donor Engagement is the management and stewardship of restricted named scholarship, internship, fellowship, academic support, professorship, and prize funds digital reporting, and broad-based restricted and current-use fund impact reporting for key donors. This position will partner with the Senior Director to support fundraising campaign objectives and develop annual engagement touchpoints to populate stewardship plans. This position partners closely with the Senior Director to develop data integration of stewardship activities in Barnard's donor database for top donor management. Working closely with colleagues across the Development and Alumnae Relations department, the Advancement team organizes, manages, and disseminates information to maximize philanthropic investment and protect and advance the mission of Barnard and the interests of those who support this mission.
Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Thoroughly researches and systematically documents named fund restrictions and fund relationships, including maintaining and updating funds in database.
2. Works with the finance and enrollment/admissions departments at the College to collect student beneficiary information for donor reporting purposes and student outreach as appropriate.
3. Works with the finance department on receiving endowment financial files and named fund utilization information for purposes of donor reporting.
4. In partnership with colleagues on Advancement, leads the narrative development for mass donor reporting, and distributes more than 750 individualized stewardship reports annually. As appropriate for response to donor inquiries, researches and communicates purpose and utilization of funds for reports and publications.
5. Serves as the Advancement team's primary expert in Ovrture, the College's primary reporting platform. Serves as an expert on the primary acknowledgement digital / video reporting tool, ThankView. Utilizes additional software tools as necessary to communicate impact, including Hustle and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
6. Serves as a liaison to campus partners, beneficiary units, and internal stakeholders as appropriate and as related to area of oversight.
7. In consultation with the Senior Director, develops recommendations about the program and design of stewardship events, including the annual scholarship reception, student gratitude events, and top donor events as identified in stewardship planning. Serves as lead on volunteer staffing for Advancement events.
8. Identifies opportunities to develop and curate content and video messaging highlighting the impact to students and faculty for annual touchpoints with donors. Utilizes website to build online presence, in partnership with Senior Director.
9. Works with limited supervision, planning and arranging own work toward previously defined goals and deadlines, as well as having the independence to establish additional objectives and standards within overall organizational goals, in consultation with Senior Director.
10. Creates opportunities for milestone reporting and special stewardship touchpoints for top campaign prospects and key donors, and trustees of the College.
11. Represents Advancement team on data-related committees, and in conversations with partners across the department and College as appropriate, on database priorities and initiatives on behalf of donor engagement objectives.
12. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in a development environment, with direct donor relations experience (reporting, acknowledgement writing, recognition programs, and/or engagement via events or digital communications)
- Experience working with multiple levels of internal and external stakeholders within and on behalf of an organization
- Experience, aptitude, and familiarity with working with large sets of confidential data Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred
- Experience working in Higher Education preferred
- Design experience including use of Canva, InDesign, or comparable software
- Content management / or donor relations communications software experience preferred
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud or comparable email marketing software experience preferred
Additional Information:
This job is currently a hybrid position and may require a presence in the office up to five times a week, including for team and full-staff meetings, events, and other times as directed by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform customary office tasks such as sitting, walking, standing, computing, and answering a telephone for moderate to prolonged periods of time combined with light to moderate reaching, bending, and lifting.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $81,000 annually
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
