The Ohio University Department of English in the College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for one full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of fiction writing (tenure-track) as part of Ohio University's Innovative Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) faculty hiring initiative. The appointment is set to begin August 16, 2024.
The position is for a student-centered, innovative faculty member with a terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in Creative Writing, English, or a closely associated field and at least one book of fiction published by or under contract with a nationally recognized press. Candidates should also have some secondary expertise in one or more of the following areas: screenwriting, playwriting, storytelling for new media, or digital writing. Preferred candidates will have substantial publication and/or production in their secondary expertise.
Position. The English Department serves as the tenure home for this position. However, the position also offers the opportunity for interdisciplinary innovation through connections with undergraduate and graduate programs in Ohio University's College of Fine Arts or Scripps College of Communication. This may include teaching, coteaching, curricular development, and/or graduate student mentorship across colleges.
Faculty will be expected to teach primarily in person on Ohio University's main campus in Athens, OH. Tenure-track faculty in the Department of English typically have an annual teaching load per year of 5 courses (15 credit hours), where substantial graduate supervision counts as one course. Salary for the appointment will be competitive based on the candidate's credentials.

College of Arts & Sciences: The college is central to Ohio University's transformative learning experience. Minimum Qualifications:
MFA or Ph.D. in English, Creative Writing, or closely associated field;
At least one book of fiction published by or under contract with a nationally recognized press;
Some secondary expertise in one or more of the following areas: screenwriting, playwriting, storytelling for new media, digital writing, or other narrative medium.
Preferred Qualifications:
Substantial publication and/or production in secondary expertise.
