Woodwork Institute was founded in 1955 and is the authoritative source of industry standards and information for the architectural woodwork community. General Purpose of Job The primary responsibilities of the Architectural Services Representatives are to meet with architects and specifiers to market the Woodwork Institute’s services, and to conduct inspections for the certification programs. Architectural Services Representatives are the primary point of contact for architects and our members. They must establish and maintain good working relationships with all architects, engineers, specification writers and design professionals in his/her territory and demonstrate to those customers our desire to provide high level certification programs to assure quality architectural woodwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The representative must:
- Act as the primary point of contact for architects, engineers, specification writers and design professionals
- Answer questions pertaining to specifications, details, products, fabrication, and quality issues as per the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards
- Review specifications and shop drawings
- Communicate with the contracted parties regarding new projects that require certification
- Provide information regarding WI’s certification programs and the benefits
- Conduct AIA seminars
- Act as the primary point of contact for our Affiliates.
- Provide information regarding affiliation, the certification process, industry, or organizational changes
- Provide answers to woodworking companies regarding specifications, details, products, fabrication, quality issues
- Schedule and conduct inspections to verify conformity to the specifications and NAAWS
- Check tolerances, attachments, sealing, scribes, and other areas of the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards (NAAWS)
- Attend association meetings and trade shows
- Organize area meetings for Affiliates and architectural firms
- Be able to travel up to 50%, to include overnight stays
Additional Information Architectural Service Representative is responsible for developing a large network of design professionals. Participation in the local chapter of Construction Specification Institute (CSI), including monthly meetings and occasional tradeshows, is expected. Additional participation in local industry events to grow this network is also encouraged.
It is also desirable that the successful representative be able to work with minimal supervision, have good project management skills, organization, and time management skills.

- write reports, business correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
