Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The primary responsibility of the Fieldwork Instructor is to observe, guide, and mentor PPS Candidates in the manner determined by the School of Education and aligned with the University mission.
The Fieldwork Instructor will:
Become familiar with and be able to articulate the LMU Conceptual Framework as well as the California State Standards for the credential in Pupil Personnel Services in order to facilitate the mastery of these tenets by the Candidates.
Instruct and coach candidates by supporting them through the use of LiveText, Fieldwork Projects, Edthena video management system and the timely completion of required Portfolio logs, documentation and activities including providing comments and reflective feedback on counseling clinical sessions, LiveText postings, and critical reflection analysis.
Collaborate with Site Supervisors and the LMU Fieldwork Liaison to ensure that candidates successfully complete their required CTC logged competency hours.
Instruct the FW class for candidates, which meets weekly throughout the semester.
Confer with the On-Site Supervisor during the semester.
Complete Clinical Skills and Fieldwork evaluations of candidates to assess mastery of student learning outcomes and performance expectations.
Participate in required professional development opportunities and required mandatory faculty meeting events and activities.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Educational Requirements:
A Master's Degree in the area of School Counseling with California Pupil Personnel Services Credential: School Counseling is required. Doctorate-level candidates who hold this P.P.S. Credential preferred. Fieldwork Instructor will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of policy changes in the field of School Counseling.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a School Counselor capacity at a school site, school district, charter management organization, or at the archdiocesan level. Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) and organizational and leadership skills; Demonstrated computer competency, knowledge of relevant systems, and willingness to learn computer programs used in the supervision component of Educational Support Services. Experience working in diverse socioeconomic areas as well as with English Learners and Special Education populations is preferred. Functional knowledge of computers and technology, including LiveText and Blackboard applications, is highly desirable.

Fieldwork Instructors will observe Counseling Candidates throughout the semester, document their experience, provide formative and summative digital evaluations, conduct course meetings, facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies, and support all facets of the learning environment consistent with the University's mission.
