CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES Responsible for financial accounting, reporting, and analysis in accordance with GASB and FERC guidelines. Specific responsibilities include financial accounting, analysis and reporting, annual financial report development, external audit support and coordination, asset management, execution of Southwest Power Pool back-office responsibilities, accounts payable, payroll, managing and mentoring staff, strategic planning as part of the FS Management Team, and assisting with overall policy and procedure development. Provides strategic leadership to department staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, monitoring employee performance, ensuring staff members are trained and cross trained, resolving conflicts, and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.
Prepares and manages the completion of financial statements, the annual financial report, audit reports, presentations and other communications for key stakeholders including the Administrative Board.
Oversees and manages external audit services.
Manages the financial contractual responsibilities related to ownership of and power purchase agreements with other utilities.
Manages and monitors payroll administration including preparation and delivery of required federal, state, and local tax forms and filings in accordance with IRS regulations.
Manages and monitors the processing of all accounts payable functions ensuring compliance with policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field, and
Three to five years of progressively responsible accounting experience in area of assignment, including some supervisory experience; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
MBA preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Professional Certification such as CPM, CPA, or CMA preferred.
