The School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University is seeking to fill a full-time, renewable, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. Start date is August 7, 2023.
Duties include: Teach courses in state-of-the art video reporting, video editing, writing for electronic media, television & video production, multimedia reporting; teach other courses depending on qualifications and program need; develop new courses in digital journalism and media production; and provide service to the School, College, and University.

Application materials must include: (1) a letter of application, (2) current curriculum vitae that includes courses taught and when, the vitae should also list places worked, duties of positions held, and time in each position, (3) statement describing both teaching and professional experience and how the experience informs teaching, (4) names and contact information of three individuals who will provide current letters of reference (dated within the past year) with at least one letter that speaks to teaching ability and at least one that speaks to professional skills, and (5) copy of transcript showing the highest degree earned. Finalists will be required to submit official transcripts, examples of work in digital format, and to authorize and pass a background check prior to an offer of employment being made.

Minimum qualifications: Completion of the requirements for a Master’s degree in Journalism, Media Studies, or related field (e.g., Communication, Technical Writing); at least three years of experience teaching media production or journalism courses as the instructor of record at the college level; demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g. positive teaching evaluations); at least five years of experience in a professional media production setting, such as a public or commercial broadcast new station.
Preferred qualifications: Experience supervising and mentoring undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds; demonstrated effectiveness teaching both online and face-to-face courses in journalism or media production (e.g., teaching awards, positive teaching evaluations).
