General Statement of Duties:
Mount Wachusett Community College is seeking a faculty member to teach a variety of Mathematics courses. We are looking for an educator who believes that engaging and authentic teaching is essential for student success. This individual will be responsible for designing an innovative classroom culture that embraces diversity and fosters student empowerment. By building positive connections, the successful faculty member will create a sense of belonging that motivates students and strengthens their desire to learn.
This Mathematics faculty member provides classroom instruction in all levels of mathematics from college preparatory to statistics, calculus, linear algebra, ordinary differential equations and discrete mathematics. The ideal candidate is committed to using active learning strategies and to promoting student engagement. This faculty member will teach at the Gardner and Leominster campuses as well as online.
Responsibilities:
Instructional Delivery: Teach courses across various instructional locations and modalities (e.g., in-person, online, hybrid) as assigned by the Dean in collaboration with the Department Chair.
Inclusive Teaching Practices: Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and challenges, fostering an inclusive and learner-centered classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success.
Curriculum and Assessment: Develop curricula and prepare and deliver instruction at all levels; Assess and grade student work; Provide timely feedback to students on their learning; Modify teaching strategies to meet the needs of students who have diverse learning styles and challenges.
Student Support: Maintain office hours in accordance with the MCCC Union contract, while also providing effective advisement for approximately 18 students. Refer students to appropriate services to help them achieve their academic goals. Assess and grade student work, offering timely and constructive feedback to enhance learning.
Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development in best practices and innovative community college STEM pedagogy, including the use of instructional technologies such as Blackboard LMS. Maintain expertise in your area of specialization through continuous learning and fieldwork.
Collaboration and Committee Participation: Work effectively within the department, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills. Actively participate in college governance and committees, contributing to committee work and college service activities as per MCCC Union contract.
Recruitment and Retention: Contribute to the development of student recruitment and admissions strategies. Evaluate student program progression, retention, and graduation completion rates.
Compliance: Adhere to faculty terms of employment as outlined in the MCCC Union Contract, collaborating with the Division Dean and the Office of Human Resources. Fulfill contractually agreed-upon responsibilities as stated in the MCCC College Agreement.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in mathematics;
Minimum one year of college-level teaching experience;
Proven track record of student engagement and success;
Strong interpersonal skills with proficiency in written and oral communication;
Demonstrated ability to utilize digital tools and technologies effectively to support and engage students.
Desired Qualifications:
Doctorate degree;
Three years of teaching experience;
Experience with active and experiential learning
Experience working with first-generation and underserved students;
A strong commitment to the community college mission and to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

Salary: $50,846.00-88,604.00
**Actual Salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of MCCC/MTA commensurate with Education & Experience.
