WBUR's Product and Audience Insights team is responsible for growing, engaging, and converting audiences across WBUR platforms. The team is comprised of product managers, engineers, data analysts, and data architects, with the goal of optimizing the audience experience for all WBUR listeners. The team manages the distribution of our content on owned (web, mobile, newsletters) and unowned (podcast, social, streaming) platforms, and then collaborates across the organization on audience analytics and optimization of the use of Salesforce, digital authoring tools, and distribution tools. The team is responsible for digital infrastructure reliability and our capabilities to target communication across channels.
As the Senior Product Manager at WBUR, you will be responsible for implementing product strategies that drive user engagement and growth through data-driven insights and optimization of the conversion funnel.
Responsibilities
Execute audience growth and engagement strategies across a variety of platforms (website, newsletters, events, podcasts) to increase audiences, optimize user engagement, and convert users. This includes daily execution and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of our products. 30%
Analyze user data to proactively identify trends and/or anomalies in the data that indicate problems, errors, opportunities, and, ideally, successes. 20%
Develop a deep understanding of how users engage with our products. Identify opportunities for product improvements and new product development, and then translate those into requirements and engineering tickets. As needed, vet and work with third-party vendors to power our platforms. 20%
Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders to refine their requirements, resolve conflicts, and remove barriers to success for teams. Work with engineering teams to understand and then communicate limitations and paths forward. 20%
Share product insights across WBUR's product, marketing, editorial, membership, and leadership teams to drive better decisions. 10%
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday. Hours are typically 09:00AM-05:00PM ET.
A degree in a relevant academic discipline (i.e. science/engineering, visual or experiential design, journalism) or domain expertise / equivalent professional experience.
4+ years of experience in product management or relevant experience, with a focus on data analytics, audience engagement and growth, and conversion optimization.
Experience working with one or more digital media platforms (examples could be Wordpress, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce CRM, Eventbrite, Megaphone, Chartable, Google Analytics 4) and donation or ecommerce platforms.
Experience working alongside engineering teams to understand and then communicate technical limitations and opportunities.
Ability to be a proactive problem solver.
An iterative approach to product development
Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to understand detailed requirements and determine a plan that will ensure requirements are met or exceeded.
Experience advocating for user experience across departments.
Experience collaborating with and leveraging data teams.
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate the creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions clearly, and effectively to stakeholders and cross-functional teams with varying degrees of technical expertise.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decision-making.
Strong attention to detail.
Passionate about public radio and its mission to inform and engage the public.
Experience in media is a plus, not required.
