The Department of Applied Physics offers BS degrees in Applied Physics and Math & Physics. In addition, it runs introductory physics courses, as well as general physics laboratory courses, all of which service several engineering programs in the school.
The department is seeking a qualified Adjunct Professor to:
teach recitations for introductory physics courses
teach general physics laboratory courses
Key Responsibilities
Conduct physics recitation sessions for undergraduate students in introductory physics courses. This includes grading of assessments as well as collaborating with full-time faculty to ensure consistency in course content and delivery.
Teaching one or more 3-hour laboratory classes. This includes grading student reports as well as coordination with the director of laboratories to ensure consistency in course content and delivery.
A minimum of a Master?s degree in Physics or a closely related field; a Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
Prior teaching experience at the college level is highly desirable. This should include a record of teaching introductory physics laboratories with hands-on experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to engage and inspire students.

In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the contact hour rate for this position is $214.24. This rate is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 7902.
