Position Overview Join the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering as a Grant Writer/Research Development Strategist, where you will play a key role in supporting the college's research initiatives by developing high-quality grant proposals and research-related publications. What You Will Do? Grant Writing and Editing: Provide writing and editing support for multi-disciplinary, multi-partner research grants, ensuring clarity, organization, and alignment with sponsor guidelines.
Project Coordination: Assist in the scheduling, coordination, and management of proposal development meetings, ensuring timely submissions.
Research and Data Analysis: Conduct qualitative data collection and analysis to support grant development, helping to improve proposal quality and success rates.
Partnership Development: Support efforts to build partnerships with external collaborators, both academic and industry, to strengthen grant applications.
Communications Support: Assist with the development of communication materials related to grant activities and special research initiatives.

Position Details: This position is grant-funded and is subject to the availability of continued grant funding.

The full salary range for the Grant Writer/Research Development Strategist is $66,500 - $118,300 per year. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $92,400 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Department Custom Scope The Grant Writer/Research Development Strategist plays a pivotal role in supporting the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) by creating and refining high-impact written communications, including grant proposals, research reports, and scientific manuscripts. The incumbent works closely with faculty and interdisciplinary teams to develop complex, multi-partner grant applications that align with both federal and private funding guidelines. This role requires expertise in translating complex scientific and technical information into clear, compelling narratives for a range of audiences, including funding bodies and academic stakeholders. The Grant Writer/Research Development Strategist is responsible for managing the writing process from concept to final draft, ensuring consistency, clarity, and compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements.
In addition to writing, the incumbent plays a key role in project coordination, assisting in the scheduling, coordination, and management of proposal development meetings, ensuring timely submissions. The position also supports communication initiatives, data analysis for proposal development, and partnership-building activities to increase the competitiveness of BCOEs research projects. The incumbent edits and proofreads a variety of internal and external documents to ensure high-quality output that meets academic and industry standards. The role requires both independent initiative and collaborative project management, working under the general supervision of senior leadership while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners.
