SUNY Oneonta is looking for a Program Specialist who will represent the University and the Extended & Community Learning (ExCL) Center. The ExCL Center strives to advance Oneonta's position as a trusted community leader, partner, and valued resource in two related ways: by helping individuals in the Oneonta community and wider region reach their full potential and by promoting civic prosperity. This position is grant-funded.
Reporting to the Director of the Extended and Community Learning Center, the Program Specialist will be responsible for managing and overseeing the implementation of grant-funded training programs within the ExCL Center. This role includes coordinating all aspects of program delivery, admissions, registration, academic advising, career counseling, while maintaining compliance with grant requirements, monitoring budgets, and ensuring successful outcomes. The Program Specialist will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, community partners, and funding agencies, to support workforce development initiatives and meet the needs of diverse learners. The Program Specialist will provide excellent customer service to learners, campus stakeholders and community partners.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of grant-funded training programs.
Work with faculty in developing and implementing program schedules, set up of courses in student database management system, and purchase of instructional materials
Coordinate with instructors, and grant partners on program delivery
Ensure all program activities comply with grant requirements and institutional policies
Provide support to program learners, including orientation, admissions, registration, academic advising, and career counseling
Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant progress, financial expenditures, and reporting obligations
Serve as the primary liaison between the ExCL Center, funding agencies, and community partners
Foster strong relationships with partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings and opportunities
Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain learners in training programs
Monitor participant progress and provide interventions as necessary to ensure successful completion of the program
Implement best practices in adult education and workforce development assessment methods to enhance program effectiveness
Assist in the development, maintenance, implementation, and delivery of internal badging
Assist with ExCL Center events, outreach activities, and other initiatives as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum two years' experience in program management, preferably in an educational or workforce development setting
Proficiency in technology, experience with data management software
Ability to work some weekends and evenings
Valid driver's license

Master's degree
Experience working with grant-funded programs
Knowledge of adult education principles and/or workforce development trends is highly desirable
