This position works remotely requiring a telecommuting agreement and adherence to the UCSC Telecommuting/Remote Work Guidelines. The employee shall be available in a full-time capacity during assigned telecommuting work hours (specific hours to be discussed with supervisor). While telecommuting/remote working, the employee is responsible for ensuring a worksite environment suitable for accomplishing their regular job duties during scheduled hours of work and, if applicable, arranging for dependent care just as they would if they were working at the regular UCSC worksite.

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is a public agency supported by 13 members (states and territories). The Associate Product Manager creates and maintains technical documentation, including user guides and system manuals. Works with the product development team to gather client feedback, address concerns, and resolve issues. Uses analytical frameworks for prioritizing product features, filtered against market/competitive analysis and available system data, to best meet strategic goals. Builds requirements based on input from State Educational Agencies, educators, and staff to estimate effort and filters against market/competitive analysis. Determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Understands layered user personas and refines user experience to drive customer satisfaction and business impact. Establishes systems and processes to prioritize product development plans and feature enhancements. Manages product development work with matrixed staffing resources.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary: $63,800 - $99,702/year. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Education, or related field and / or equivalent experience / training.
Significant experience in technical writing or documentation, preferably within the education or edtech industry.
Experience with developing different types of documentation (e.g., user manuals, API documentation, training materials, etc.).
Proficiency with product management and documentation software applications (e.g., MS Word, Google, Adobe Acrobat, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
Exceptional writing and editing skills to communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
Strong skills in document design and layout principles to effectively produce visual and text materials that meet and satisfy the needs of clients.
Familiarity with best practices and standards for technical documentation, including adherence to accessibility requirements.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills to interact effectively with a variety of clients, SMEs, developers, and vendors.
Time and project management skills to effectively establish priorities and meet competing deadlines across multiple small and large projects simultaneously.
Strong research and analysis skills to gather information from various sources, understand the information, and organize the information logically.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possess and apply a basic knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method necessary to perform product support responsibilities.
Experience ensuring that organizational practices, services, and behaviors support and promote diversity among staff.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a fully remote position, and the selected candidate must be able to work successfully from a home/remote office and be able to fulfill the requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
Ability to work overtime including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays to meet operational needs, and work an alternate work schedule shift as required.
Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
