Position Summary
The Manager, Support Services, will assist the Senior Manager, Support Services with managing a team of project managers, coordinators, and other administrative staff for the assigned team who play a vital role in University Advancement. The Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Support Services and will work closely with the unit leadership team to ensure the administrative team is working efficiently and effectively in supporting the unit.
The Manager will also partner with staff in Advancement Administration and other support services managers in UA to help build a comprehensive and unified onboarding, performance and development plan. The Manager helps to ensure a seamless flow of communication, training and workload management.
University Advancement strives to advance the mission of the school by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni, students, faculty, and friends. Administrative staff will be assigned to support individual schools and programs within this team. The Senior Manager will work closely with leaders of schools and programs to ensure the needs of the team are being met.
The Manager will help create and foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork that celebrates outcomes, builds individual and team capacity, and ensures that WashU UA is a preferred workplace.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assists with managing the daily administrative activities of the team of project managers, coordinators, and administrative assistants. Helps cultivate a positive, collaborative team environment that encourages high performance, shared workload, and professional advancement within the team. Assists with bi-weekly meetings of administrative team to ensure consistency of quality and best practices being used across the assigned team.
Strategizes and partners with leaders and officers in the assigned team to support the needs of each school or program.
Works with the Senior Manager to expand the training and team-building program. Co-manages a collection of data, detailed checklists, templates, and instructional materials for the purpose of maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and service for initiatives, program, stewardship, and strategy officers.
Assists with hiring and onboarding within the subvertical. Reviews applications and attends interviews. Assists with monitoring the performance of staff, attends regular meetings to provide positive direction and address concerns. Assists with annual performance reviews.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in advancement in a university setting.
Experience with Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint.
Strong project management skills and ability to set and meet personal and team deadlines with the flexibility to manage competing and changing priorities.
Confident and collaborative, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and have the capacity to develop productive relationships at all levels, establish trust, and provide thoughtful counsel.
Strong written communication skills.
Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
Ability to analyze, condense, and synthesize information provide accurate analysis and summaries.
Active manager and coach who can challenge a team to improve.
High standards of performance and great attention to detail.
Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with databases.
Required Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree.
Three years of administrative management or office management experience.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary Range
$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
