This position works a hybrid in-office/remote schedule and the incumbent must reside in CA and live a commutable distance from San Diego State University at time of hire.

WHAT OUR DEPARTMENT DOES
Our Finance department provides full range of finance, budget, and accounting services. Having skilled financial leaders, technology-based systems and processes allows the department to excel at our finance work, which supports the SDSU research mission and overall strategic growth plans.
Responsibilities YOUR ROLE IN CREATING THE UNIVERSITYS PRESENT AND FUTURE
Join our growing, innovative, and adaptive team under general direction of the Associate Director of Budget & Finance. We believe in working hard and having fun doing it! Our talented team embraces creativity and solution development. As you are overseeing the annual financial and single audits, you will have creative freedom of organization and communication to stakeholders. This position represents SDSURF to the public, other educational institutions, professional associations, auditors, taxing authorities, financial institutions, and other stakeholders. Put your interpersonal skills to work while building partnerships and maintain healthy relationships with all SDSURF stakeholders.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO AND MANAGE
As the Audit Coordinator you will get to interface with senior executives, auditors, auxiliaries, university personnel and a variety of external agencies. You will have a multitude of complex tasks and tight deadlines so staying organized, detail oriented, flexible, proactive, and resourceful will ensure your success!
Some key complex tasks will lean on your organizational skills, attention to details, adaptability, and resourcefulness. As a skilled team member, you will get to show off your ability to handle high volume intricate tasks and projects with tight deadlines. You will get to collaborate with the Benefits Manager to prepare and address all audit benefit workpapers and requirements for the benefits audit. This position also serves on the VEBA Trust Oversight Committee in which your oversight of actuarial valuations will be a valuable contribution.
Qualifications EXPEERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Equivalent to four years progressively responsible accounting experience or any combination of education and relevant experience
Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Four years in a project management capacity or equivalent project management certification plus experience
Senior level administrative support in a financial department of a non-profit organization
Experience coordinating audits and working with auditors
Experience working in a governmental and/or non-profit related auditing and/or accounting environment
Knowledge of federal, state and private agency funding regulations
