POSITION DETAILS
Brooklyn College invites applications for the Digital Designer (Communications Publications Design Specialist) position. The Digital Designer is a key position on the digital design team in the Office of Marketing and Communications, playing a significant role in concepting, creating, and delivering on-brand messaging to internal and external audiences. The designer will be responsible for enhancing the image of the college through design of key digital material, including page designs for the Brooklyn College website, e-newsletters, invitations, social media, event promotion, and other digital marketing collateral. The designer will report to the Associate Director of Design and will work closely with the other members of the department staff to develop creative solutions that reflect the college's branding standards.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, typical duties include but are not limited to:
Produce digital design content to spec following creative briefs for various platforms used by the college including its website, interactive applications, marketing materials, online communities, e-newsletters, invitations, and event video displays
Create, develop, present, and execute digital design solutions that are strong, attractive, fresh, and intuitive, ensuring the best possible user experience
Design interactive elements for the college's digital communications portfolio that support optimal navigation and usability
Utilize industry technology to present innovative tools that increase productivity and efficiency, and that support the college's communications and marketing goals
Investigate and analyze necessary information to enhance end-user experience
Continually research, test markets, and troubleshoot existing and future end-user experience and design and apply these practices to the college's website, email, and other communications
Vaccine Mandate
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
Bachelor???s degree and 4 years of experience designing for online platforms required
Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite 6 including After Effects
Online portfolio of digital design work
Preferred
Working knowledge of CSS, HTML
Ability to successfully manage simultaneous projects with competing deadlines in a complex and fast-paced environment
Knowledge of and technical expertise in all aspects of multimedia design including UX/UI, animation, and motion graphics
Strong understanding of how to address and resolve cross-browser and cross-platform issues
Strong design presentation skills and ability to translate creative briefs into conceptual design solutions
Familiarity designing custom templates for e-mail clients including MailChimp
Strong knowledge of how to apply photography to project brand
Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of team members including web developers and producers
Experience in higher ed designing for enrollment/admissions marketing campaigns
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides design and production expertise for College publications, written materials, and multi-media communications.
Works with department and other College administrators to assess departmental publication needs and determine appropriate production and design elements
Participates in planning communications messages, graphic elements, and formats appropriate to client requirements
Manages production schedules and budgets, coordinating production activities with internal and external personnel
Plans and implements on-line and multimedia communications, coordinating with Information Technology professionals as needed
Supervises staff both creative and production staff; works with College print shop, computer center, and other departments to ensure support of college publication needs
May oversee equipment inventories and coordinate maintenance of specialized equipment and technology
Develops production workflows, policies and standards, and assures adherence to any internal or external communications standards
Performs related duties as assigned.

An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
