The Senior Media Technician supports the Department of Computer Science (CS) users of audiovisual (AV) and IT equipment in classrooms and event spaces; maintains equipment; and collaborates with colleagues to ensure high quality services are delivered to the campus community, faculty needs are met and customer satisfaction is high.
The Senior Media Technician, who reports to the Lead Specialist, Media Platforms and Innovation, serves as the primary technician in support of systems used for remote-accessible teaching (such as Zoom, Panopto and installed cameras) and coordinates and offers media support for the Department of Computer Science remote-accessible programs.
This position is a 3 year fixed-term position with the possibility of extension contingent upon available funding. This position will also require a flexible working schedule in order to accommodate off hours support.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred
3-5 years experience providing AV support or equivalent required.
â— 1 year in a customer facing service role required. â— Experience with multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, iOS) required. â— Experience in academic computing support in higher education is preferred. â— Experience with project management is preferred.
â— Working knowledge of AV equipment including troubleshooting skills. â— Strong foundation of understanding of signal flow and potential relationship with problems. â— Working knowledge of Crestron room control systems. Ability to administer/troubleshoot system via room touch panel and remotely via Toolbox. â— Excellent customer service skills; strong commitment to customer service; and positive attitude required. â— Ability to apply problem-solving skills to meet the needs of customers in a quick and effective manner. â— Ability to prioritize tasks. â— Clean driving record. â— Excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to understand and present complex technical issues to a diverse customer base. â— Ability to work independently and proactively; work effectively in a group and as a member of a project team. â— Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment. â— Ability to coach, mentor and encourage colleagues, students and temporary staff.
