Position Information Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Governmental & Community Relations, the Advocacy & Community Engagement Manager supports the department's charge to build relationships, enhance the University's presence, and generates support for UC Riverside's mission of education, research and public service. Major areas of focus and responsibility include direct legislative advocacy, economic and regional development, community engagement, communications, public policy analysis, program and event coordination and research. **Applicants are required to submit a cover and resume for full consideration. Minimum Requirements Thorough knowledge of public policy. Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus and/or medical center. Skill in project management, including event planning and meeting deadlines. Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identifying real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the legislative process and how these activities can/will impact the campus and/or medical center and strong skills in reading and interpreting proposed legislation. Written skills to produce effective position statements and draft proposed legislation. Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with internal and external constituencies. Thorough knowledge of the campus and/or medical center, its mission, goals, objectives, programs, achievements, infrastructure and issues of concern. Knowledge of public policy and the legislative process. General understanding of and comfort with information technology. Ability to enter, edit, retrieve information, recognize errors, and initiate corrections while using standard software applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe applications, Canva, mail merge, and e-mail programs. Experience assisting with planning events/meetings from inception to completion. Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
