The Position: High School Science Teacher
Nishmat Adin - Shalhevet Scottsdale High School is searching for a highly dependable science teacher to join our team in a part-time or full-time capacity. The science teacher’s responsibilities include preparing lessons, developing a laboratory science program, providing academic support, and fostering good relationships. You should be comfortable working to strict deadlines and also be open to feedback.
To be successful as a science teacher, you should be tolerant of diverse student capabilities in the sciences and be able to create a learning environment where students respect each other. Outstanding candidates should be approachable, caring, and able to convey their passion to students.
Essential Job Functions:
- Delivering engaging science lessons in biology and chemistry. Ability to teach advanced biology and chemistry as well as additional sciences is desirable.
- Developing a laboratory science program for the school.
- May be asked to provide student support in STEM classes taught through online remote learning.
- Grading exams, tests, quizzes, assignments, and presentations, and contacting parents and other faculty members to discuss concerns and schedule interventions
- Assessing student work and provide meaningful feedback to guide learning and growth
- Providing extra support to struggling students and additional resources to those who display exceptional interest in science.
- Using digital technology to improve learning and keep accurate student records.
- Constantly expanding educational networks and participating in workshops, lectures, and other learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues in order to enhance the instructional environment
- Participate professionally in scheduled meetings as needed.
- Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhancing it.
- Use classroom management strategies and approaches to create and maintain a classroom environment of safety, respect, positivity, acceptance, and learning.
- Build personal relationships with all students that demonstrate respect and compassion.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Model professional behaviors and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the broader community.
- Maintain reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned and assist in other school programs when necessary.
