DESCRIPTION
Under direction, the Production Services Assistant 2 will serve as operator of both color and black/white high-end digital printing equipment, and using basic principles and procedural methods of the printing industry, produce jobs according to industry and manufacturer specifications. Interpret customer specifications and using knowledge of digital printing equipment determine best methods for production of printing orders. Perform daily maintenance and calibration of color and black and white digital equipment. Troubleshoot to determine cause and correction of printing artifacts. Participate in formal and informal training sessions to maintain full qualification as an operator on all digital printing equipment. Coordinate all phases of final print requests through bindery operations.
Serve as Customer Service Representative (CSR) for Imprints Campus Copier Services (CCS), assisting customers by phone, email and in person at a service counter. Receive service call requests from CCS customers and enter relevant information into service dispatch program. Monitor incoming recharge change requests from departments, verify proper authorization to add, delete, and modify account information and other relevant information in the ITC Multiplan program. Identify, clean, scan and store digitized documents (and hardcopy files) according to department procedures and customer requirements. Work with computerized applications such as: Make Ready and Photoshop to remove artifacts and spots that may appear in the digitized file. Set job up for efficient production to meet customer requirements. Determine use of additional equipment needed for jobs, including addressing, insertion and bindery equipment. Remains up to date on software and programming changes.
Provide bindery, finishing and addressing services within the Imprints production center. Binds and finishes all ordered products including, but not limited to booklets, books, pamphlets, circulations, newsletters, forms, letters, notices, engineering drawings, etc. Operate binding and finishing equipment including, but not limited to folders, perfect binder, booklet maker, cutter, creaser, slitter, puncher, stitcher, various binders, padding printing equipment and shrink wrap machine. Maintain adequate levels of all materials and supplies associated with assigned job responsibilities at established levels or minimums. Record accurate usage counts and maintain perpetual inventory levels. Assist with inventory counting processes to complete periodic inventory counts.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience applying basic printing principles and methods to operate color and black and white digital printing. Experience in process color matching and color correction on print to meet customer requirements. Knowledge of offset printing processes, terminology, and applications.
Knowledge of paper stock, paper weights, paper finishes, alternate printing substrates, bindery, finishing types and options as they apply to print jobs and production equipment. Ability to order appropriate paper supplies for productive equipment.
Proven knowledge of scanning processes and operation, digital file management and organization.
Strong ability to perform data entry of job specifications, production information and inventory to printer systems in PrintSmith or Management Information System (MIS).
Proven experience operating various addressing, bindery and finishing equipment to produce quality finished product.
Experience conducting basic maintenance and calibrations of color and black and white digital printing equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
Proven experience critically examining produced items for quality print, proper order, edge alignment and binding quality.
Demonstrated experience training staff in equipment operation, setup, and safety.
Experience using cash registers and credit card terminals, adhering to established credit and cash handling procedures and close out processes.
Ability to efficiently use general computer programs such as, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (electronic mail), Acrobat, and Internet applications. Ability to use online systems for timekeeping, and web-to-print applic
