Job Description:
The International Students and Scholar Office (ISSO) at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for an International Students and Scholars Assistant position. ISSO facilitates the seamless integration and success of international employees, scholars, and students by providing expert services, guidance on immigration compliance, and comprehensive support around unique international challenges.
The successful candidate for this position must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident for access to SEVIS as required by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Department of State. In addition, this role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Front Desk Management and Reception
Serve as receptionist/primary source of information for international students and scholars by responding to telephone/e-mail inquiries and in-person traffic.
Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and support front desk student workers.
Maintain a digital front desk manual.
Ensure front desk is adequately and effectively staffed throughout all open hours, this includes arranging for additional staffing during peak periods.
Manage front desk document collection, scanning, processing, and delivery.
General Office Management
Manage incoming and outgoing mail and courier services for all sections of the office; send related notifications to students, scholars, and departments; and update ISSO records accordingly.
Maintain supply inventories, order supplies, and process billings and invoices.
Maintain general office equipment.
Resolve facilities issues. Maintain general office spaces such as conference rooms, storage spaces, kitchenette, reception spaces.
Provide support to office staff for calendaring, internal and external meetings, job interviews, event planning and management, and special projects.
Manage ISSO email account, role accounts and listservs.
Advising Unit Support
Assign student immigration cases to appropriate advisor in response to case management software notifications.
Acts as DSO/ARO in a limited capacity in order to provide travel signatures and print I-20 forms during peak times.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
