SALARY RANGE: $53,680 - $112,672 based on degree and student contact hours
JOB SUMMARY
Mid-Pacific middle school teachers are passionate about teaching and dedicated to supporting the unique developmental needs of adolescents, including cognitive and social-emotional growth. As members of a collaborative and highly interdisciplinary community, teachers work across grade levels and subject areas, requiring both breadth and depth of content knowledge. This collaborative environment supports critical thinking, real-world applications, and the meaningful integration of technology into the curriculum.
Social-emotional learning is central to the Middle School experience. All teachers serve as advisors, building strong, supportive relationships with students and guiding them through the advisory curriculum.
With expertise in science and technology, the Middle School Science Teacher engages students in grades 6–8 through inquiry-based learning, integrated instruction, and authentic, real-world problem solving. The ideal candidate understands and implements the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and is skilled at designing experiences that connect scientific knowledge with technology and engineering concepts in ways that are relevant to students’ lives.
Instruction is hands-on, exploratory, and encourages metacognitive thinking. Students build digital portfolios to demonstrate their understanding through a variety of evidence and reflections. Teachers are encouraged to bring in external partnerships with scientists, engineers, or community organizations to enrich the curriculum and extend learning beyond the classroom.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In alignment with the school’s mission and vision, collaborate and co-create meaningful lessons and assessments with other science teachers within and across middle and high school grade levels as well as project-based learning opportunities with team members.
Address the needs of diverse learners through the use of various instructional and assessment tools and strategies.
Stay abreast of current research and develop professionally to improve teaching practice continually.
Work collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, and other members of the Mid Pacific community in support of students' needs.
Design and implement lessons and assessments in alignment with Mid Pacific’s Assessment Guidelines.
Record and post student grades electronically in a timely manner.
Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians as needed.
Possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to respond effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in science from an accredited college or university. A minimum of three years of science teaching at the middle-level is strongly preferred. Previous experience with project-based instruction, and/or International Baccalaureate preferred, but not required. Teacher Certification is preferred, but not required.
At Mid-Pacific, we see children with original ideas and perspectives, with dreams, aspirations, emotions, and insights. We see students who celebrate these many characteristics and interests... and define who they are and how they learn. Faculty, administration, and staff are key components in this equation.
Our employees are one of our greatest strengths. Our goal is to recruit and retain the most qualified individuals based on how their experience and skills mesh with the school's mission and vision. Mid-Pacific employees are progressive, innovative and always place student needs first.
