The Teaching and Learning Lab (TLL), supports and develops innovative and effective approaches, across modalities, to teaching and learning at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The successful candidate will be passionate about exploring new technologies, solving complex problems, and using technologies in support of our strategic commitment to deliver high-quality educational experiences that transform lives across diverse communities of students. Position Description
Learning Technologies and Innovation (50%)
Support implementation and integration of digital content within a learning management system.
Help design new digital learning experiences by finding the best tools and approaches for specific cases.
Collaborate in the design, development and testing of AI-supported learning experiences.
When applicable, partner with team members to design a high-level vision for a course or project learning experience, including learner journeys, technology and platform features, and metrics of technology effectiveness and learner success.
Support management and refresh of TLL website.
Maintain documentation and provide technology training and support.
Course Development (50%)
Provide technical and pedagogical support for the design and development of engaging, caring, humanizing, inclusive, and active learning experiences via various modes of delivery.
Utilize best practices and current thinking from the learning sciences and educational technology research to design and develop highly effective, engaging learning experiences and content that supports diverse populations and audiences.
Identify solutions to increase interactivity of digital content, get faculty feedback, and implement selected solutions for on-campus, online, and blended courses.
Assist faculty in converting content ? including multimedia content, group collaboration activities, assessments, etc. ? into online modules.
This is a term position through 8/31/2026. Possibility for extension based on department needs and budget.
Basic Qualifications
Any candidate wishing to be considered must supply a cover letter in addition to their resume.
Minimum of two years? experience in instructional technology and/or design. Bachelor?s Degree in relevant field may count toward experience.
Functional knowledge of HTML and CSS, and basic experience coding in any language (Python, R and JavaScript preferred).
Experience using generative AI tools.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Strong, communicative, collaborator with a track record of working closely with other teams to achieve project objectives within deadlines and budgets.
Current understanding of educational technology trends, issues, and innovations, as they relate to post-secondary education.
Experience working in a client service role or consulting organization; experience in higher education and non-higher education settings.
Experience communicating ideas visually through sketches, wireframes, diagrams, etc.
Basic to intermediate understanding of AI and Generative AI concepts.
Experience deploying and developing Machine Learning and Generative AI tools, including predictive models and custom tools connected to Gen AI APIs.
Data Analysis knowledge and experience.
Experience with UI/UX design and testing.
Functional knowledge of Python, JavaScript and/or other programming languages.
Experience with tools for, and knowledge of accessibility.
Experience with and knowledge about serving underrepresented populations.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and transfer knowledge to others in formal and informal contexts.
Master?s degree in Education or a related field
Data Science tools (such as Rstudio and Jupyter Notebooks)
