An interdisciplinary research team at Ohio State is looking for a community outreach coordinator to facilitate and manage strategic partnerships with local and state organizations engaged in housing and financial planning programs. The community outreach coordinator will serve as the community liaison for the Power of Home initiative led by researchers in the John Glenn College at Ohio State in collaboration with researchers in the Department of Human Sciences at Ohio State. The Power of Home facilitates access to home repair resources for low- and moderate-income homeowners in the state of Ohio in coordination with public and private partners. The outreach coordinator will also assist with the expansion of Power of Home to the state of Wisconsin, building a network with local and state organizations in Wisconsin. In addition to Power of Home, the community outreach coordinator will serve as the project manager for the Financial Planning Community Project, administered through the Consumer Sciences program in the Department of Human Sciences at The Ohio State University.
Duties:
Build and manage ongoing relationships with community partners who are engaged in providing services to homeowners in Ohio (housing counseling organizations, other nonprofit housing and social service organizations, realtors, lenders, insurance agents, local government officials), including those with services listed in the Power of Home Home Repair Look-Up guide.
Promote Power of Homes Home Repair Resource Lookup Guide and Home Repair Loan Program to homeowners and housing professionals in the community by hosting information sessions and disseminate materials related to Power of Home to the community. Serve as a point of contact for homeowners engaged with the Power of Home resource guide or survey to connect homeowners with relevant resources or support.
Create and lead a community advisory committee for the Power of Home initiative in Ohio to inform outreach to homeowners.
Lead collaboration with University of Wisconsin Extension to expand the Power of Home initiative to Wisconsin, including building relationships with local and state agencies in Wisconsin and creating a community advisor committee for Power of Home in the state of Wisconsin or incorporating Wisconsin stakeholders as part a single Power of Home advisory committee.
Serve as project manager for the Financial Planning Community Project during Autumn and Spring semester, which is a service-learning project in the undergraduate course CSCFFS 3260 Fundamentals of Financial Planning. The Community Project is offered in collaboration with Franklin University and Columbus State Community College. Tasks are to connect with Registered Investment Advisory firms to recruit financial advisors for the Community Project and respond to their questions; train financial advisors and student-planners for the Community Project; work with a student teaching assistant (TA) to schedule the financial planning sessions, recruit student-clients, and email the written session summaries to student-clients after the sessions. In addition, the project manager maintains reports about the impact of the Community Project and establishes a website to promote the Community Project.

This term position (32 hours per week) is funded from June 2025 through June 2026 with a potential to be extended through spring semester 2027, based on funding and performance. The full range of health, retirement, tuition, vacation benefits offered at Ohio State are available to this position.
The salary range for this position will be $47,200 to $62,050 (prorated at 80% FTE) to be determined by internal equity, budget, and the candidate's education and experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field. 2 years of relevant experience in community engagement with local organizations (across sectors) required.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a related field; 2-4 years experience in community engagement with local organizations (across sectors); some experience or expertise in financial counseling, financial planning, or housing counseling; project management expertise preferred.
