POSITION SUMMARY
The Office of Campus Ministry provides opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to grow spiritually, to engage in local, domestic, and international service and social justice opportunities, to make spiritual retreats, reflect on contemporary social issues and actively engage in worship opportunities.
Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Ministry, the College Chaplain will work collaboratively with the entire Campus Ministry team to advance the Catholic and Jesuit charism of the College. The College Chaplain will assist the various distinctive programs offered by the Office and take the lead in shaping the Catholic liturgy program with sensitivity to the various liturgical seasons. The College Chaplain will be available to assist with retreats and faith formation, social justice engagement, and athletic chaplaincy. As the Campus Chaplain, serving the entire college community, this position will engage in active outreach to students of all faiths and of no religious commitment.
This is a full time 10 month position working August 1st - May 31st
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
Foster and engage the Jesuit and Catholic character of the ministry and College.
Guide and direct the Catholic liturgical life of the College.
Coordinate the daily and weekly Catholic Masses and regularly preside at these liturgies.
Assist the Campus Minister for Faith Formation in the development of appropriate liturgical services for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Provide a rich understanding of both the Catholic theological tradition and Ignatian spirituality to the college community
Be a collaborative resource to the campus ministry team and the college community
Provide spiritual direction for students and for the adult members of the campus community.
Guide and direct small groups of students engaged in personal discernment (vocations to the priesthood and religious life, for example) and groups engaged in Christian contemplative practice (Kairos and similar groups).
Assist the Campus Minister for Faith Formation with the College spiritual retreat program and work with them to develop an age-appropriate experience of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola for the students.
Facilitate the collaboration between the Campus Ministry office and the athletic chaplaincy and its "Inside the L" program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) or advanced Master's degree in Catholic Theology (STM, for example) preferred, the Master of Divinity (MDIv) or Masters in pastoral theology is required.
Jesuit Priest preferred.
Possess an advanced understanding of the foundations and principles Ignatian spirituality, the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola, the Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus, the mission of the Jesuit higher education, and the Roman Catholic theological tradition.
Ability and desire to relate to various groups in the Le Moyne College community and the larger Syracuse community (The Diocese of Syracuse, The University Chaplaincy at Syracuse University) with diverse faith backgrounds
Ability to maintain confidentiality, be self-directed and motivated, possess a high energy level and positive attitude.
High level of initiative and imagination.
Flexibility to work extended and/or off-hours to meet program needs.
Basic familiarity with social media and office technology.
Strong organization and administrative skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills (eloquentia perfecta).
