Who We Are
The Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) at the University of California, Irvine, creates transformative experiences through an interconnected, diverse, and innovative community of artists and scholars.
As the only UC school encompassing art, dance, drama, and music, reflected in its four departments, CTSA fosters creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration, empowering over 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students annually. With a focus on academic rigor, technology and a commitment to inclusivity, students engage in over 150 annual exhibitions, performances and workshops while preparing for a wide range of professional careers. As part of a comprehensive research university, CTSA offers students the unique opportunity to pursue artistic and academic excellence as mutually informative endeavors. Our embrace of double majors and interdisciplinary as well as cross-school collaborations provides students with opportunities to develop as leaders in their fields.
Rooted in Southern California's vibrant cultural landscape in Orange County, CTSA maintains deep connections with regional, national, and global arts organizations and practitioners. These relationships expand CTSA's resources for students, providing career pathway-oriented opportunities, including internships and industry partnerships. Students can also gain professional experience through activities in our two professional galleries, the Contemporary Arts Center and the Beall Center for Art + Technology.
CTSA's dynamic faculty, distinguished by their leadership in their creative practice, mentor students to become engaged global citizens. Our alumni launch into careers of impact, making significant contributions across both the arts and other sectors.
Named in 2000 for Claire Trevor, the trailblazing Oscar- and Emmy-winning actor, CTSA continues to build upon her legacy of excellence, inspiring future generations of artists and scholars.
The Music Technology Manager will work under the CTSA Director of Technology Services and will work closely with the CTSA Production team. The Production team also includes an Assistant Production Manager for Music whose primary responsibility is supporting Music Department concerts. In the Music Department, the Gassmann Studios Director is a faculty member who oversees those specialized studios, and who typically supervises one or more Graduate Student Researchers or Teaching Assistants with advanced technology skills who also help support the studios. The Music Technology Manager will coordinate with faculty and graduate students in the Music Department's PhD program in Integrated Composition, Improvisation and Technology to support specialized research and creative activity in computer music. They will also provide more general music technology support for all faculty and students in the Music Department, and will maintain the Arts Media Center as a resource for students and faculty in all four CTSA departments (Music, Dance, Drama and Art).

Key job responsibilities include: maintaining and improving existing music technology labs and equipment, including overseeing software and hardware upgrades and advising on purchases for the Gassmann Studios and the AMC computer lab; maintaining the Gassmann and AMC checkout equipment inventories including overseeing checkouts to faculty and students and updating records in the Asset Tiger inventory software system; managing the budget, student worker staffing, security and operating procedures for the AMC, and coordinating AMC course reserves and acquisitions with UCI Libraries; providing general technological support for Music Department faculty and graduate student research and creative activity, and for undergraduate and graduate classes; providing technical direction for Music Department lectures and concerts that require specialized music technology applications; coordinating with Music Department staff and the Gassmann Studios Director to facilitate the purchasing of music technology hardware, software and supplies; designing and installing new music technology facilities and resources when needed; and providing grant-writing and administration support for computer music research and creative activity.
