Position Description
We are looking for a School Nurse to join our administrative team and serve as the key individual on campus responsible for health care delivery, health education and program, policy development, and serving as the point person for health services during any emergency. This is a 12 month position which includes health services for both our extended day programs and our summer camp program.
Essential Job Functions
Oversee Mirman’s wellness program and maintain all first aid and medical supplies as needed. • Provide emergency or basic first aid to students, including everyday illnesses such as sore throats,rashes, minor injuries, or potential allergic reactions from bee stings or consumed food. • Assess communicable diseases and infection-control issues; send parent notices required for certain communicable diseases.
Oversee and coordinate sensory (hearing/vision) and other health screenings. • Implement specialized healthcare procedures such as blood sugar testing, insulin administration,seizure procedures, concussion procedures, or others as needed.
Update student medical records and clinical records and maintain written notes about confidential student information.
Ensure we have necessary paperwork and medical authorizations to store/administer student meds. • Serve as project manager for on-campus flu and Covid vaccination events.
Communicate effectively and proactively with students, parents, faculty and administration. • Participate actively on the Emergency Operations Plan team helping to oversee planning for emergencies and coordinate training and all-school emergency drills.
Monitor and update the applicable technology platforms and databases (i.e., MAGNUS, Blackbaud, SchoolPass) pertaining to student health and emergency drills or actual incidents. • Maintain school health and wellness policies and procedures, including but not limited to Narcanpolicies, epinephrine, COVID-19 and pandemic policies, and school medications policies. • In the event of a pandemic, work with the appropriate school taskforce on all related matters including staying up to date on and implementing local, state and federal pandemic response policies, i.e., contact tracing, notifications, maintaining testing kits and mask inventories.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required; Registered Nurse or Certified School Nurse preferred; will consider PA Current California license required
Certified to perform visual and hearing screenings or must be willing to obtain these if required Prior experience working in school environments preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and a sense of humor Display a high level of professionalism and ability to collaborate with a positive attitude Knowledge of state, federal and local school laws, policies and regulations
Highly motivated to provide excellent patient care
Ability to multitask, stay organized, work independently and follow through
Proficiency in assessing situations and acting quickly; growth mindset and detail oriented Strong interpersonal skills resulting in effective communication with parents and teachersProficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) as well as Microsoft Office Suite Prior experience with MAGNUS, Blackbaud, SchoolPass, etc. is desirable
Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to Mirman’s vision, mission and guiding principles Exhibit high standards of ethics, moral character, professionalism, and the ability to present oneself as a positive role model for students
First Aid and CPR training required (training provided if not currently certified)
Valid CA driver license and clear criminal background investigation
