Manager/Director of Advanced Grid Operations (Depending on experience)
This position will be responsible for reporting to and working closely with the Vice President of Portfolio Management and Advanced Grid Operations to apply visionary and strategic direction to the ongoing and future operations associated with AGO. The position will require an individual with experience and a deep understanding of US wholesale power markets, the evolving US power grid, and the technologies associated with distributed energy assets. Additional responsibilities include working toward achieving ACES Strategic Plan Priorities around evolving the Advanced Grid Operations to support ACES Member and Customer needs.
Duties and Responsilbites
Work with ACES Member/Customers to expand services for Distributed Energy Resource Operations (DEROPS), Distributed Operations (DO) as well as Generation Operations (GOP).
Candidate will be responsible for constructing and leading an internal team to execute on ACES’ strategic plan priorities. This will include setting priorities and developing a work-plan that aligns with the vision laid out in DER working group meetings with ACES Members.
Demonstrate working knowledge of FERC and market specific rules that guide DER interaction and performance optionality, as well as staying abreast of NERC compliance standards and requirements.
Coordinating service offerings with ACES’ Members with the ability to provide insight into resource planning activities, project management of service implementations, and learning about new DER technologies.
Interface and work with clients and across ACES departments to develop tools and strategies on managing and optimizing battery storage asset technology to ensure the efficient and profitable management of all inverter-based resources.
Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder groups on DER and FERC Order 2222, as well as other industry groups on new generation technologies to provide market intelligence to clients.
Excellent customer relationship management skills and ability to build business relationships with other companies
Willingness to travel as needed.
Adheres to and is supportive of all ACES corporate policies and complies with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position.
Any additional responsibilities assigned by management.
Qualifications
Candidate should possess a college degree in an appropriate discipline with an advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of Three (3) to Five (5) years of commercial, transactional, power trading and operations experience.
Command of traded energy risk management products and risk management fundamentals as well as portfolio management and understanding of statistics, finance, and economics.
Experience and working knowledge of electric generation assets, the US electric transmission grid, RTO/ISO power markets and their associated constructs for energy, capacity, ancillaries, transmission and other products.
Knowledge of the industry’s evolving generation technologies, inverter-based resources, distributed energy resource systems and demand response programs
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management and executive leadership both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated public speaking and consultative skills as well as experience presenting technical subject matter.
Excellent customer relationship management skills
High degree of analytical, attention to detail and organization skills.
