The College of Education at Texas Christian University (TCU) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Instructional Technology and Education and Human Services, beginning in Fall 2025. We seek a dynamic and innovative scholar whose work explores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies to advance learning, equity, and engagement in PK-20+ educational settings. We are especially interested in candidates whose research intersects with AI, literacy, content area instruction, immersive learning, or geospatial technology and who are excited to collaborate across disciplines to design the future of education.
About the Role This position is designed for a thought leader eager to shape how AI and other advanced technologies are researched, taught, and applied across diverse educational landscapes. The successful candidate will: • Lead research at the intersection of AI and content learning (e.g., literacy, STEM, social studies, counseling, etc.) • Support innovation across the College and University by leveraging immersive and emerging technologies • Help prepare educators, leaders, and service providers for the ethical and effective use of technology • Serve as a collaborative partner in interdisciplinary and community-driven research and practice

TCU’s College of Education provides exceptional preparation for the most inspired and inspiring educators, counselors, leaders, and youth advocates. The college offers both B.S. and B.S.E. degrees at the undergraduate level, as well as five master's programs and five doctoral programs, many of which are nationally recognized. Required Qualifications • Earned doctorate in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a closely related field • Demonstrated expertise in educational technology integration and research • Evidence of a strong scholarly agenda, including publications in peer-reviewed journals • Experience teaching at the university level and in PK-12 educational settings • Experience with or potential for securing external funding
Preferred Qualifications A research agenda focused on one or more of the following: o Artificial intelligence in education o Literacy and content development enhanced by AI o Immersive or extended reality (XR) learning environments o Geospatial technologies or cybersecurity in education
• Prior success in securing and managing grants from NSF or other funding agencies • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) • Interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary, and community-engaged scholarship
Primary Responsibilities
Teaching & Mentoring • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as instructional design, multimedia authoring, AI in education, educational research, and innovative pedagogy • Mentor graduate students and supervise dissertations and theses • Integrate emerging technologies into instruction and model effective digital teaching practices
Research • Maintain an active, externally funded research agenda with a focus on instructional and emerging technologies • Contribute to scholarship in AI, instructional design, digital equity, or content-area innovation • Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations that enhance education and human services
Service & Leadership • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees • Participate in strategic initiatives, curriculum development, and program evaluation • Collaborate with K-12 schools, educational organizations, and tech innovators to support regional and national innovation in education • Contribute to TCU’s mission of fostering academic excellence, ethical leadership, and global citizenship
