The Opportunity:
Cougar Health Services (CHS), strives to create an inclusive environment where all Cougs feel cared for and welcomed. We provide these services in ways that are student-centered, culturally informed, integrated, and accessible. The Harm Reduction Services Coordinator supports the provision of harm reduction services through WSU system-wide overdose prevention efforts and Cougs for Recovery which is in-line with the CHS mission. CHS also strives to support students in all ways to allow students to reach their academic goals. This important role & position creates increased direct referrals into CHS services and focus on student substance use and harm reduction for collaboration between HRRS staff and CAPS/ Medical Clinic providers. The work of the HRRS coordinator and recovery coaches creates a non-judgmental safe space for students to access harm reduction services that potentially are lifesaving and life altering.
Summary of Duties:
The Harm Reduction & Recovery Services Coordinator will provide day-to-day administration, program planning & implementation, supervision of the student-staff peer recovery coach (RC) team for the Cougs for Recovery (CfR) Service within Cougar Health Services (CHS). These duties also include acting as the primary point of contact with campus stakeholders, program report writing, conducting attendance/dashboard management and evaluation tasks, and coordinator for activities between multiple Pullman campus departments. The Harm Reduction and Recovery Services Coordinator will work under the supervision of the WSU Harm Reduction and Recovery Services Manager. The ideal candidate has knowledge of public health or a related field in community engagement, the ability to synthesize diverse perspectives into innovative solutions, passion for the wellbeing of students in recovery from problematic substance use and other mental health concerns, experience in the development of student & community engagement through combined public health and arts-based activities, basic evaluation skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a commitment to equity in practice.
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$4,058 - $4,334 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Position requires two (2) years of professional work experience in health-related service provision, community engagement, substance use prevention, recovery support services, or related experience.
Strong experience leading and directing the work of others in a collaborative team environment.
Strong experience with program development for 'high risk' health concerns of young adult populations and/or college student populations (e.g., substance use, recovery support, mental health, violence prevention, etc.)
Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in public health practices, the continuum of care for substance misuse, harm reduction approaches, best practices and evidenced base strategies for substance use and Substance Use Disorder recovery, as well as program development.
Basic knowledge of and demonstrated skills in program evaluation methods, data analysis, report writing and health information communication.
Experience and demonstrated skills in using Qualtrics and Excel for data collection, analysis, and report writing.
Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, facilitation and intercultural communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with a flexible schedule.
Ability to work with others in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Psychology, Human Development, Public Health Administration, Prevention Science, Health Education, Sociology, Digital Technology & Culture, Health Communication, Fine Arts - Community Engagement emphasis, or other related area of study.
Two (2) years of professional work experience in health-related service, community engagement, substance use prevention or recovery support services, or related experience with strong experience leading and directing the work of others.
Experience directly supervising the work of others in a collaborative team environment.
Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
Strong experience with and demonstrated skills in assessment, research, or evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with people from diverse communities and people with diverse perspectives.
Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative initiatives.
