The Office of Human Resources' mission is to deliver comprehensive resources and services that include recruitment, employee benefits, performance management, classification, and compensation as well as employee labor relations. Reporting to the Human Resources Executive Director, the Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative support to Human Resources leadership and performs comprehensive human resources duties including HR functions related to recruitment and timekeeping/leave management, performance management, onboarding, and labor relations. The HR Coordinator will be a front-line contact person for HR information, assistance and problem solving, ensuring smooth coordination, follow-up, and timely workflow of information and transactions.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the responsibilities of the position will include but are not limited to the following:
Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Executive Director and assistance in problem solving, project planning and management, and development and execution of stated goals and objectives.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, initiate, improve and develop administrative procedures and record-keeping systems on behalf of the department.
Support the maintenance of personal files for all full-time and part-time faculty and full-time non-teaching instructional staff; prepare files for review by Department and College Personnel and Budget Committees; coordinate with employees to review personal files and assist with document imaging in the Docuware system.
Collaborate with HR Managers and IT in the maintenance and improvement of digital file delivery processes, workflows/integrations; provide timely, accurate and efficient preparation of physical and digital records
-Assist with the operation of office accounts, and plan and monitor expenditures, as appropriate.
Serve as a primary point of contact and liaison with all academic and administrative offices.
Maintain departmental records; keeps separate confidential records when needed
May take dictation and transcribe notes (written or recorded)
Answer telephone calls; screen incoming calls and forward/refer calls
Set up appointments; keep calendars; refer students, faculty, other employees and general public to proper areas or persons.
Assist with arrangements for special events such as conferences, reservations of rooms, travel arrangements, catering services, informing the relevant departments/units, etc.
Process purchase orders and supply orders; verifies deliveries
Prepare and compile complex reports, including simple research and analysis
With approval, make improvements to department forms
Perform research and analysis on specific issues, as required, and independently prepare correspondence and reports which may be highly sensitive and confidential in nature.
Assist HR leadership with interviewing and recommending part-time office support staff, including College Assistants
May supervise support staff such as College Assistants
Train office employees and others (as directed) in routine office duties, rules, procedures, etc. and related matters

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Administrative experience in a higher education and/or Human Resources setting.
-Detail-oriented and accurate with strong analytical, evaluative, and research skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and use tact and discretion in all interactions.
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including proficiency with Outlook email and calendar functions
Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Teams and similar collaborative tools
Proficient knowledge of MS Office Products such as Word and Excel
Strong organizational and follow-through skills to prioritize work, manage multiple priorities; and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive office.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard employee information, handle documents with sensitivity and discretion.

Provides information and services to the College community to support the Human Resources function.
Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping, processing of new hires, pay administration, and recruiting
Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources
Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness
Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries
Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$49,960. - $ 54,268. Commensurate with education and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
