Position Summary:
Oxbridge Academy is eager to secure a passionate and innovative Upper School Spanish Teachercommitted to inspiring students to develop language proficiency and cultural understanding. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, enthusiasm, and flexibility to the classroom, fostering a love for the Spanish language while equipping students with the skills to communicate effectively in real-world contexts.
As part of the World Languages Department, this educator will collaborate with colleagues to design engaging, student-centered lessons that emphasize the four modes of communication—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—while ensuring continuity and progression across grade levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Engaging & Rigorous Instruction: Design and implement innovative, student-centered lesson plans aligned with Oxbridge Academy’s Spanish curriculum, incorporating the four modes of communication to foster authentic language use and cultural understanding.
Flexible & Proficient Teaching: Teach five sections of Upper School Spanish across different grade and academic levels, adapting lessons to meet diverse student needs.
Collaboration & Alignment: Work closely with the World Languages team to ensure vertical and lateral continuity in curriculum and instruction.
Assessment & Feedback: Regularly assess and document student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
Student-Centered Learning: Cultivate an inclusive and supportive classroom culture that encourages intellectual risk-taking and a growth mindset.
Mentorship & Character Development: Build meaningful relationships with students, mentoring them in both academics and character development while actively supporting Oxbridge’s mission.
Community Engagement: Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events, contributing to a cohesive, mission-driven academic environment.
Parent & Guardian Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents, guardians, and support staff to address individual learning needs and foster student success.
Technology Integration: Leverage digital tools and innovative teaching strategies to enhance language acquisition and student engagement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Spanish, World Languages, or a related field.
Fluency in Spanish and English with a thorough understanding of both Spanish and English grammar fundamentals.
Previous experience teaching Spanish at the high school level.
Strong classroom management and the ability to create a positive, engaging learning environment.
Passion for language instruction and a commitment to fostering global citizenship.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students, colleagues, and families.
Familiarity with proficiency-based instruction and innovative teaching methodologies.
Preferred Attributes:
Prior experience teaching in an independent or private school, ideally within a mission-driven educational community.
Interest in contributing to the school community beyond the classroom with a demonstrated ability to coach or mentor students in co-curricular or extracurricular activities.
Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and innovative teaching practices.
