Sunrise Equine is looking for a long term, full time associate veterinarian to add to our four doctor practice. This will bring the total number of veterinarians in the practice to five. We are a rural based equine ambulatory clinic. We do a lot of preventative care, dentistry, lameness and reproduction. Some of our vets are trained in chiropractic care and in acupuncture. We offer our clients 24/7 emergency services which are shared by the doctors on a rotating schedule (with 5 vets this would be roughly every 5th weekend and one weeknight per week). There are 3 referral clinics within an hour of our practice center that we have good relationships with. We have done some minor/lower risk surgical procedures at our clinic that don’t require a surgical suite. We are always working to expand on the services that we provide to keep progressing and to better serve our clients. We have in house CBC, chemistry, Coggins, fibrinogen, Fluxergy PCR and fecal exam capabilities. There is a brand new, high quality ultrasound machine for musculoskeletal and thoracic/abdominal imaging, both 3 meter and 1.5 meter scopes, two digital radiography systems, and a PulseVet shockwave unit. We offer Pro-Stride biologics. For ambulatory work, we provide a truck equipped with a fully stocked Bowie Vet unit and a Surface Pro with HVMS software for billing and record keeping. We have a Capps rotary dental float set, basic tooth extraction tools, repro ultrasound and SAA reader for each truck. There are additional dental instruments at the clinic for EOTRH incisors extractions. During the busy season each vet has an assistant with them daily. During the slower season we maintain fewer assistants and share them as needed.

We also have a vet capable of small ruminant care. No work on species other than equine is required but small ruminant is an option if interested. 

Sunrise Equine works to maintain a great culture within our practice. All team members are close and communicate well. We take pride in our customer service, client relations as well and emergency coverage. We are very motivated to do our part in helping to make equine practice to become more sustainable. Our practice also is supportive of trying to provide a good work/life balance. We have employed scheduling strategies to minimize driving and maximize time with patients. There is time set aside for administrative duties each week and an additional day off the week after a weekend on call. Each month outside of the busy season we have a half day set aside for internal veterinary CE and training.   

We need a veterinarian that is focused on providing great care to horses as well as great service to our clients. This requires good interpersonal and communication skills as well as a strong equine background. Proficiency and confidence in equine med is essential. On call duties are required. You must have the ability to work and drive in all weather conditions. Minnesota can be -20 at times in the winter and 90 and humid for portions of the summer. We have a fairly large practice area so you must be willing to live somewhat central in order to have a reasonable response time to all clients when on emergency duty.

SEVS is an equine veterinary practice in Minnesota about an hour north of the Twin Cities. We have traditionally been 85% ambulatory and 15% in clinic but have made great strides in the past year to shift towards the goal of a 50/50 split. We serve a broad area of east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Sunrise was started in 1995 as a solo vet practice and has expanded to a 4 to 5 doctor practice with modern diagnostic equipment. We have several boarding facilities in our area but the majority of our patients are housed on the clients property. They are primarily pleasure, trail, 4H, working cow horse or barrel horses and plenty of pasture pets. We have friendly, helpful staff and great, well established clientele.
