The incumbent in this position will be responsible for assisting the ARS team with supporting the UCSF Research Radiology groups by creating, communicating, and implementing their vision and requirements within the UCSF IT Infrastructure.
The Operational Admin for our Radiology IT Services department role is multifaceted, involving database administration, application programming, IT project management, systems administration, systems and process analysis, security, and business technical support. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Linux environments, NETAPP storage solutions, and the ability to solve complex research use cases through technical infrastructure administrative duties, seen as a leader or knowledgeable resource in the administrative field.
This position will be heavily involved in working directly with UCSF Radiologists and research scientists to understand their infrastructure needs and support leading IT projects, administering Linux systems, analyzing and improving systems and processes, implementing security measures, and providing technical support to radiology staff and researchers. The incumbent in this position will need to analyze complex issues and work within defined procedures and practices, recommending the appropriate action. In addition, they will need to intimately learn the services currently supported by the current team and offered ARS to provide adequate support system stability and end users.
This position works with different levels of stakeholders in the radiology research areas including the other departmental IT resources that support different areas of research. Across research areas works with those stakeholders to support and understand how to effectively support them with technical solutions, and tools. These solutions will be supported by central IT and the incumbent will be working with and a part of that team to either enhance or expand current offerings to support business and security requirements or provide recommendations for successful support.
The Operational Administrator will work closely with ARS teams, as well as their manager to oversee the implementation, set-up and management of the research services and support. In addition, they will need to work with the various teams in UCSF's central IT and learn how they can be used to meet the requirements of the research community. Areas include UCSF's Security, Compliance, Research Data, Research Administrative Applications and Research Infrastructure (on-prem and cloud).
The position will include supporting groups with older image acquisition devices that are no longer supported by a vendor and/or have obsolete software or operating systems. The Operational Administrator must maintain the systems in as secure as possible manor, using technical controls and mitigations to achieve security on systems that cannot be updated without impacting image/data quality, while maintaining accessibility. There will be times when old hardware and archaic software need to be debugged.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $101,300 - $151,900 (Annual Rate).
