Overview The starting salary range for this position is $30.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.
The Institute for Behavioral and Community Health (IBACH: http://www.ibachsd.org) bridges communities and science to conduct meaningful and relevant public health research that leads to positive health outcomes and sustainable health programs. We are funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other federal, state, and local funding agencies, to design studies whose ultimate goal is to promote health and reduce health disparities.
Under the direct supervision of Dr. Noe Crespo, this position is expected to support research activities required by projects. The primary research focus is on developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion strategies and intervention activities to aid in the understanding of how to prevent chronic diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer) and infectious diseases (e.g., COVID-19). These various projects are supported by various staff members and project investigators.
This position will hold a supporting role for multiple study components. A strong understanding of research practices will be needed as well as skills in administrative activities, data collection and analysis, and working both individually and in group settings. The Research Assistant will work closely and collaboratively with Principal Investigators, Project Managers, Project coordinators, and study teams including research staff, students, and interns.
Responsibilities Data Collection and Analysis 50%
Follow existing guidelines and protocols
Follow data management procedures
Complete quantitative and/or qualitative data collection
Data quality checks
Support with the development of data collection tools
Support with data cleaning as requested
Support with quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis
Support with data reports
Support with data organization
Support with instrument development and modification
Support with communicating research findings
Follow data management processes, systems, and procedures
Help maintain secure databases
Occasionally assist with equipment checks and logs
Administrative and Recruitment Activities - 40%
Answer/return and complete reminder calls
Check voicemail
Schedule participants appointments
Conduct participant interviews
Administer surveys
Administering incentives
Follow up with participants
Assist with checking office supplies as needed
Completing quality assurance checks of study forms
Ensure study materials are printed, filed, and documented as needed
Screen potential participants
Explain study components
Consent participants in the appropriate language (English or Spanish)
Assist with quality assurance tasks
Participate in recruitment efforts and activities
Attend community events as needed
Maintaining communication with study partners
Work with coordinators to ensure study recruitment needs are met
Other Duties as Assigned - 10%
As a member of the IBACH team, the RA II will have opportunities for professional growth through engagement with IBACH investigators, project managers, coordinators, and administrative teams.
Complete literature reviews

Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION
Completion of sufficient lower division coursework
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
OR - Equivalent of one year related experience in lieu of coursework
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual in both English and Spanish (oral and written)
Previous experience conducting interviews and surveys in English and Spanish
Previous experience working in a public health research environment
Previous experience with ACCESS, REDCap Academic, Basecamp, SPSS
