Reporting to the Manager of Engagement and Alumni Relations, the Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the College of Arts and Sciences advancement constituent (alumni, donors, corporate partners, volunteers, and friends) marketing and communications. This role involves developing, overseeing, and implementing strategic advancement communications, including both digital and print strategies. The Marketing and Communications Manager will maintain collaborative relationships with university and college counterparts to ensure coordinated efforts and cost efficiency. They will work closely with college marketing and communications, advancement marketing and communications, and university marketing and communications.
In collaboration with senior leadership, the Marketing and Communications Manager will elevate the Colleges brand identity as a destination for philanthropy, engagement, and volunteerism. Partnering with internal stakeholders (advancement leadership team, advancement colleagues, department and college leadership, college marcom colleagues, faculty, staff, and students) they will enhance storytelling to engage external constituents in the work of advancement. The Marketing and Communications Manager will identify and create impact stories from donor and constituent engagement to retain and grow the audience, and build strategies to increase engagement through stakeholders' time, talent, and treasure.
Effective communication with diverse audiences is essential. The Marketing and Communications Manager will create persuasive, advancement-centered content, including campaign messaging, talking points, scripts, invitations, and emails. They will also develop high-quality proposals for major gift donors, collateral for the cultivation of prospects, and donor impact reports. Additionally, they will assist in maintaining advancements digital presence on existing platforms, ensuring content is current and engaging and establish an advancement social media strategy. In partnership with the engagement team, they will assist in promoting alumni and donor engagement through effective, and timely communication strategies.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to create, test, and pivot based on data-driven insights and a proven ability to deliver projects that achieve strategic objectives. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, in a high pace environment, is also essential. Duties and Responsibilities
60% Establishes and implements the College of Arts and Sciences Office of Advancement marketing and communications strategy under the strategic direction of the advancement leadership team. Elevates the college's brand recognition through effective messaging that promotes constituent engagement and philanthropy. Develops and implements strategies that showcase the important work of the college and the impact of philanthropy. Facilitates and maintains relationships with both the college and advancement marketing and communications teams to ensure goal alignment and consistency. Utilizes existing university resources such as branding guidelines and digital platforms to maintain a cohesive brand identity and leverage established networks. Employs data-driven decision-making by analyzing audience engagement and campaign performance to ensure that the college's strategies are informed by insights and aligned with the university's overall objectives.
40% Works with internal stakeholders across the college, including marketing and communications, academic departments and programs, and the deans office. Identifies impact stories and creates persuasive, advancement-centered content. Develops high-quality proposals for major gift donors, collateral for the cultivation of prospects, and donor impact reports. Maintains advancements digital presence on existing platforms, ensuring content is current and engaging. Coordinates the production of marketing materials and social media posts. Assists in promoting alumni and donor engagement through effective, and timely communication strategies. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience
4 years or experience in brand, marketing, and communications strategic planning and implementation across platforms and mediums.
