SALARY:Anticipated salary range $162,000.00 - $172,000.00. Actual salary is commensurate with experience and education. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Assistant Provost of Student and Academic Success (Student and Academic Affairs) at North Shore Community College is a critical leader in ensuring faculty and student support staff serve students effectively. Reporting to the Provost, the role focuses on aligning academic programming and student support services to create a cohesive, equity-centered student experience. The Assistant Provost partners closely with the Provost to lead all initiatives that foster seamless collaboration between academic and student affairs, driving strategies to close equity gaps, and ensuring equitable access to high-quality educational and support services. This position emphasizes building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, championing equity in all initiatives, and using data to continuously improve outcomes for historically underserved students. Through this work, the Assistant Provost co-leads the College's Student and Academic Success area to advance its mission of delivering transformative and just educational opportunities that prepare students for lifelong success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collaborative Leadership: Work in close collaboration with the Provost to support and advance the College's vision of integrated Student and Academic Success. Center equity as the foundation of all efforts, ensuring alignment between academic programming, student support services, and co-curricular experiences to create a cohesive and just student experience.
Integration of Academic and Student Affairs: Lead initiatives that deepen the integration of academic and student affairs, prioritizing equity in instructional excellence, comprehensive support structures, and enriching co-curricular opportunities to dismantle barriers to student success. Assist in designing and supporting the assessment of academic, student services, and co-curricular programming.
Strategic Planning and Coordination: Assist in the planning and implementation of equity-centered strategies that propel students toward successful outcomes in their educational, personal, and professional lives. This includes program design, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on closing equity gaps.
Partnership Development: Collaborate with internal stakeholders (faculty, staff, and administrators) and external partners (local school systems, community-based organizations, four-year universities, and employers) to create equitable pathways that sustain student engagement and success, particularly for historically underserved populations. Work with Strategic Employer Relations and Career Services to promote short-term credentials and/or internships.
Equity and Inclusion: Champion equity-minded practices across academic and student support areas. Develop and implement transformative strategies to close equity gaps, dismantle systemic inequities, and ensure all students have access to high-quality educational and support services tailored to their needs.
Holistic Student Support: Provide leadership in building programs and partnerships that meet students' non-academic needs.
Assessment and Improvement: Utilize equity-focused data to evaluate the effectiveness of academic and student support programs (including SLO's, PLO's, GESLO's, and ILO's). Make informed decisions to enhance services and ensure progress toward institutional goals for student retention, graduation, and equitable transition outcomes.
Faculty and Staff Development: Support professional development initiatives that empower faculty and staff to implement equity-driven practices and deliver integrated and high-impact student experiences. Collaborate closely with the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation in advancing our mission as an HSI.
Program and Policy Oversight: Provide leadership in the development and implementation of academic programs, student support policies, and co-curricular initiatives that embed equity at their core and align with the College's mission and strategic plan.
Communication and Engagement: Serve as a bridge between academic and student affairs, fostering open communication and collaboration to ensure a unified, equity-centered approach to student success.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Provost of Student and Academic Success
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Co-leads (with Provost) student and academic affairs leadership. Co-leadership and supervision of the Deans and Directors leading and managing the different departments and offices of Student and Academic Success will be designed with the Provost.
Job Requirements:
Academic Credentials: Earned Doctorate or comparable terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., MFA, etc.) from an accredited institution.
Leadership Experience: At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in higher education administration, including oversight of academic and/or student support programs, staff, and/or faculty.
Collaborative, Equity-Driven Leadership: The ability to inspire and motivate faculty and staff through shared governance and interdisciplinary collaboration, creating integrated models that advance institutional goals and foster a positive, equity-driven culture.
Data and Innovation: A proven history of equity-based, data-driven innovation and leadership in academic programs, student support programs, faculty/staff development, curriculum/co-curriculum development, and assessment. Experience with institutional research, data-informed decision-making, and assessment.
Accreditation and Quality Assurance: A deep understanding of accreditation standards, academic and student support quality, and continuous improvement processes.
Additional Requirements:
Candidates must pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of positive engagement with a unionized workforce
Project management and grant experience
Bilingual: preferably Spanish or multilingual
