Overview
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the main NYU.edu website, ensuring it is up to date, engaging, advances the goals of the university, and meets evolving site viewer needs. Identify and coordinate with our IT technical partners to update/upgrade website technical functions, application upgrades and service packs, etc. Coordinate with the CMS and Web teams to understand impacts on users and site viewers and create clear and engaging change management communications. Review regular user feedback and NYU community member comments to establish opportunities for user experience improvements. Plan, manage, oversee implementation, and monitor automated and manual content and asset audits to remove outdated, unused, and inaccurate or duplicate information. Guide the team and create new content that is in line with each website's content strategy and established standards and best practices. Oversee and guide all major website redesign or progressive enhancement projects. The Web and CMS Manager will directly and functionally supervise several full-time professionals and should have relevant previous experience.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with additional significant years of experience, specifically in web design, web development, or related a plus.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree or Masters degree in human-computer design, media communications, computer science, technology management, or other related academic field.
Required Experience: 5+ years must include experience: managing full-time employees or vendors, designing or participation in designing a website and or web/brand design system for a medium to large organization, developing with or has a working understanding of website code, having oversight and complete understanding of at least one web CMS platform, working with an event calendar and local site search applications, understanding of and practice meeting web accessibility standards, and collaborating with web professionals of all specialities. In addition, they must have experience: developing and presenting training programs, creating/maintaining tutorials and documentation, creating change and marketing communications, and writing and editing copy for the digital environment.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years experience in brand or marketing communications (including print, signage, and environmental branding efforts), documentation, higher education or related industries. Experience facilitating vendor RFP processes and vetting vendors/products with many stakeholders without losing sight of choosing a successful final option. Understanding and experience applying human development theories, human-computer interactions, organizational development, and process optimization models. Direct experience working with and ensuring WCAG 2.0+ AA compliance. 3+ years experience specifically with Adobe Experience Manager, LiveWhale Event Calendar, Squiz/Funnelback search, Google Apps, Google Marketing Platform (Analytics, Tag Manager, etc.), Google Search Console, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), and Figma.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must demonstrate skill managing people and projects from start to finish, including defining a project's goals, creating timelines/setting deadlines, delegating tasks to team members and vendors, and ensuring that those assigned deadlines are met and reports feel supported and expand their own skill sets. have a strong understanding of, if not direct experience using, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript and content management systems (CMS) while working alongside developers. demonstrated effective communication (written, spoken, and presented) because they will work with a wide range of professionals including designers, developers, content creators, and stakeholders of all levels of the university this is essential. They must know how to clearly communicate goals, requirements, and timelines, as well as provide concise updates on the status of projects, particularly challenges that may require additional support. Have experience researching and forecasting training needs then planning, developing, and delivering training programs and complete the education cycle by being open and asking for feedback and knowledge. Possess ability to analyze a variety of metrics in order to identify areas for improvement and make well-informed, if not data-driven, decisions.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ideally, a candidate will also have experience with personalized web portal experiences and all of the complexities that come with such an application. That includes understanding data of all types, integrations using standard API formats, complex workflow engines, internal communication strategies, and robust user and group permission structures. deep experience working with cross-functional teams, that may include designers, developers, content creators, and business stakeholders. Be able to collaborate effectively with others, listen to varied perspectives, hold an inclusive mindset regardless of personal beliefs, and work towards meeting the organization's needs. quickly and effectively identify problems and develop creative solutions to overcome them. Think critically, know how to analyze information and data, and use that to make informed decisions. easily adapt to new technologies, trends, and best practices within the industry, and hold significant patience for a large bureaucratic organization with constantly shifting needs and priorities. They must embrace change and respond to new challenges with creativity. Should be able to provide leadership and direction to their team, setting clear goals and expectations, providing feedback and support, and holding team members accountable for their work. Quickly and effectively identify problems and develop creative solutions to overcome them. Think critically, know how to analyze information and data, and use that to make informed decisions.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $115,000.00 to USD $135,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
