The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at UC Irvine Health School of Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis and understanding of human diseases through biomedical and clinical research. Using the latest technologies, our pathologists help advance medicine by finding better ways of diagnosing, managing and treating diseases.
Your Role on the Team
Under close supervision the incumbent will work in a Neurobiology research laboratory using human and animal brain/blood tissue samples in experiments using immunohistochemistry, microscopy, western blotting and digital pathology. This position is also responsible for laboratory maintenance duties including ordering, solution preparation, routine tissue sectioning, and working within a team.

Ability to maintain organized lab notes
Ability to record results/observations and maintain an organized, legible lab notebook
Ability to use computers
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar)
A minimum of 1 year of experience
At least 1 year of experience working in a neuropathology, neuroscience or related laboratory.
Preferred:
Knowledge of basic tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry
Mastered established protocols for immunohistochemistry and western blotting
Exposure to basic cell biology background and data interpretation
Exposure to digital pathology using HALO, Keyence, Imaris, QuPath, ImageJ, etc.
Data analysis and graphing using SigmaPlot, SPSS, etc.
