Under the direction of the Maintenance & Alterations (M&A) Department - Hospital Zone Managers and HK Superintendent, perform the full range of journey level functions of an Electrician in the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (RRUMC), Center for Health Sciences Complex (CHS), Peter Morton Building (200 Medical Plaza), 300 Medical Plaza, Tiverton Guest House, Wasserman Building, and the West Medical Building related to fire alarm and security alarm equipment and systems. Install, operate and maintain advanced microprocessor based fire alarm systems, specifically, Honeywell/Notifier and Siemens/ Pyrotechnics equipment. Design, integrate, install and maintain alarms, CCTV, card access systems, digital surveillance cameras and digital recorders. Perform mandatory maintenance and testing of equipment and maintain documentation; inspect work performed for accuracy and quality of workmanship and ensure customer's satisfaction, communicate job-related issues to appropriate supervisory levels and/or resolve on-site job concerns. Upon completion of projects, close out job and complete all forms; and ensure all tools and equipment are secured. Ensure that good safety practices are observed. Perform other journey level electrician duties as needed.

Experience and working knowledge of Siemens MXL, Honeywell Notifier and similar alarm systems. (Required)
Experience in use of materials, equipment and tools of the Electrician's trade and electronic testing equipment. (Required)
Experience working with both digital and analog electrical devices/systems (i.e. microprocessors, programmable controllers, logic control devices.) (Required)
Experience with various power distribution, auxillary equipment and motor control systems. (Required)
Troubleshooting and repair electrical systems and equipment for malfunctions, sign of damage, deterioration, or adjustment. (Required)
Experience with a variety of complicated electrical/electro-mechanical systems and equipment and solid state controlled electrical devices. (Required)
Experience with various types of fire alarm and security alarm systems, in order to design, integrate, install and maintain systems and equipment. (Required)
Experience in reading project specifications, blue prints, and technical trade related manuals and write simple English phrases to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Other Type of Degree Satisfactory completion of a certified 4-year apprenticeship program or equivalent. (Required)
Possession of California General Electrician Certificate, and/or California Fire/Life Tech certification. (Required) And
Must possess California Driver's License, Class C and ability to drive a University vehicle in the course of duties. (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
